make sure to give the highest dose of zantac for weight (10 mgs per kilo), or, at least have the highest amount handy, so that you can increase (if you need to) from where the dr starts you off…

I feel for you! sounds like your lo needs to be medicated AND for you to do complete TED…unfortunately it all takes time- 2 weeks of being on the PPI and a good 3 weeks of the TED…once things are more under control, then I would revisit taking baby off of meds…

it can take up tp 14 vdays for you to see the effect of the prevacid
are you giving it on an empty stomach followed by a meal 30 minutes later?

also you might want to try giving 2 doses of 15mgs bcse babies have fast metabolisms & she might just ‘zip’ through the meds and then need more later…

our ped GI is conservative. we were lucky that, by coincidence, he had done some of his med-schooling at the U of Missouri! This perhaps ‘pushed’ him to read/listen to/incorporate the research that comes from there…

You have a little while until the end of October…can you call the pharmacist and ask? Can you fax the dr for a new prescription?
I probably would just use it, but you should ask…

I can’t keep track- are you the one w/ baby w/ Sandifers? if so I’d try the increased dose & see if sandifer’s goes away…

if you’re not the one w/ the baby w/ sandifers, lol!

hmmm…not sure what to say. jonah had sandifer’s and when he was properly medicated he stopped displaying the symptoms. so if you’re still seeing symptoms then you might want to try the higher dose to see if they stop…?

I did some quick math & used 3.5mgs/kilo
and came up with 36.75mgs a day

this is a GUESS. a COMPLETE GUESS.
because nexium is ‘stronger’ than prevacid and
a ‘high’ dose of prevacid would be 3.5mgs per kilo,
so I started there…

I suppose that zantac is a compound? but zantac is not the kind compounds we refer to as losing their stability. it’s the compounding of PPIS that is very tricky…(PPIs = prilosec, prevacid, nexium, protonix)
