Zantac Liquid

I have an entire bottle of Zantac liquid here that we’ve never even opened. It expires at the end of October. Do I have to dump all of this down the drain? 🙁

You have a little while until the end of October…can you call the pharmacist and ask? Can you fax the dr for a new prescription?

Oops, I guess I forgot to say: We don’t need the Zantac anymore! We got it and decided to try and go without it and our ds was fine. This was forever ago so I know we won’t need it. I just hate the idea of just trashing it!

If you know someone whi is wilin gto use it that you knwo personally and they will take it, I’d give it to them other than that it probalby needs to go down the drain…:0(

Hey I had to throw a huge bottle of carafate donw the drain a hwile ago..it physically hurt to do that because I knew how much it cost me..YIKES!!!! It had expired though and we didn’t need it any more.

I don’t know if it’s a good idea to dump it down the drain. I’d call the pharmacy, they have the means of disposing of meds properly and would take it back from you to do so if zantac is not safe to just dump.

I would think if it’s safe to ingest it would be fine to go down the drain JMHO..though.

For what it’s worth, I’ve read that you’re supposed to flush any prescriptions that you won’t use, as opposed to throwing them away.
