So, since we have extremely HIGH maintenance babies, does that mean they’ll be easy teenagers???!!!??? That’s only fair, I think.
I sure hope so
February 6, 2007 at 3:21 pm #24219AnonymousInactiveJohanna, since your seeing the PT already for his torticollis, can you ask them to evaluate your other concerns or to make some recommendations to help him move forward. Just a thought.
And BTW, Hailey was also a huge back archer and it did delay things for her a bit, but she seems to be on track now.
February 7, 2007 at 3:42 am #24264AnonymousInactiveMaybe in 12 -13 years time we can all hop back on the forum and discuss the whole “easy teenagers” thing. Chances are we will all meet in the “how to control your wayward teenager” forum somewhere in cyberspace.
Johanna, I certainly relate to your anxiety. But being in a mothers group with 8 other babies of a similar age highlights to me how variable development is- reflux or not. All the babies at some time see more advanced in some area or other but behind in others- eg Alana can sit up without support but can’t (or won’t!) roll from front to back- whereas no other baby is close to sitting- but one is nearly crawling at 5 months.
Hopefully in a few years these worries will be less and we can enjoy a few chardy’s (Chardonay- wine in Aus).
February 8, 2007 at 9:07 am #24328AnonymousInactiveI feel as if I was you just a couple of weeks ago! (I also posted on here). And it’s funny, not too long thereafter, Sander started to do many of the things about which I was worried. He didn’t crawl until maybe ten days ago (which means he was 9 months). He STILL doesn’t “point”, which, according to all the “books” he should be doing. But, I *think* I wll be ok now, b/c I have started to realize he will eventually do these things (and b/c so many moms on here helped me).
Try to Bumbo chair. Sander LOVED it, and it really helped him learn to sit well. I bought mine at Target.

February 8, 2007 at 9:55 am #24335AnonymousInactiveMy mother already sent me Dr. Phil’s book on raising kids…and 85% of it is about teens. I’m wondering if she knows something I don’t =-)
February 8, 2007 at 10:58 am #24344AnonymousInactiveYesterday Sarah came home and told me to “bite it!” (I have to admit that I have no idea what it means, but I’m sure it wasn’t a term of enderment… she was angry when she said it.) I asked her where she heard it, and she said that one of the kids in the class says it! I was so annoyed, she’s only 3! I told her that it wasn’t nice, and she said sorry, but I had a vision of a 16 year old standing at the front door yelling that she wanted the keys to the car, and when I said no, she yelled back at me “bite it!”! Oh, how I don’t look forward to the teenage years!!!!
February 9, 2007 at 7:04 pm #24483AnonymousInactiveI think if Alana ever came home and said “bite it” or “bite me” which seems to be the Aussie version- well I probably would!! Serve her right. Experiential learning I will call it
February 9, 2007 at 9:02 pm #24488AnonymousInactiveJohanna,
I was going to suggest a baby pod. It’s a hard foam rubber chair molded to their bodies. It has a high back and keeps them sitting up straight. Ben doesn’t sit yet, of course, but I can put him in this for periods of time. I think (hope) it will help strengthen those muscles, as he is a big back archer too. We got ours at Walmart.
