Lately when I put my 3.5 month old to my shoulder to burp, which she usually does pretty well, she has started rubbing her face all over my shoulder, then crunching herself in a ball, then stretching out, then crunching in a ball, over and over, all the while rubbing her face on my shoulder, chest, arms, etc. Occasionally it stops if I stand up and walk around with her, but not always. Sometimes she’s fussing a little when she’s doing this (but not crying) so I’m not sure if she’s in pain or if perhaps she is just tired. She really is a poor napper for me during the day so I know she gets overtired, but I’m just not sure if this behavior is reflux related or something else. Right now she’s on Axid and it helps, although it’s not been a miracle solution for us by any stretch of the imagination. Any ideas?

I think the act of refluxing is uncomfortable and causes much of this. I have also thought my kids have some lower intestional pain (gas or other). For me this behavior lasts up to an hour after feeding. After that if they start this I know they have yet another burp.
I don;t have any advice really since I have not found any “cure”. SOmetimes a dose of mylanta helps.November 13, 2008 at 9:25 am #58628AnonymousInactiveThanks so much for your feedback. You mentioning the gas gave me something else to consider – my daughter just went through a 10 day round of amoxicillin for an ear infection which seemed to really give her some stomach distress, so perhaps that’s the culprit. The more I think about it, this behavior started around the same time she began the antibiotic. Hopefully that’s all it is – we’ve been doing fairly well on just Axid but I was/am beginning to get a little concerned that it might not be doing the trick anymore.

Keep the Axid dose in mind too since H2 blockers are weight sensitive. You may need to increase the dose to maintain comfort.Take careNovember 13, 2008 at 5:05 pm #58659hellbenntKeymasteryou might want to consider giving probiotics to help restore the flora & fauna that was destroyed by the antibiotics- antibiotics kell off all the bacteria- the good & the bad- so probiotics help give back the ‘good’
Probiotics, brands used: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8970&PN=1
