Hello…. I havn’t posted in a while since my daughter has been doing so well latley… With that being said, now something really weird is happening. She is pooping white…. As a matter of fact it is the exact color that I saw after she had taken the barium as a infant during her GERD testing. She has been doing this since Friday and it is not getting better. I took her to the Dr. on Saturday and he was confused. He didn’t know what to make of it. He said he would do some research and would call me if he found anything. It is very fowl smelling and is chalky white… Have any of you had any experiences with this?
February 25, 2008 at 9:18 am #48566AnonymousInactiveDid she get into something? white crayons, etc… That is the only thing I can think of? Did you call the GI? They might have a better idea than the pedi..
Good Luck and let us know what you find out…February 25, 2008 at 9:21 am #48567AnonymousInactivethat is very confusing. I would agree with Ann Marie, maybe she got into something. Has her diet changed any recently? Did she eat cottage cheese? I have no clue but a ped GI might help. Very interesting.
February 25, 2008 at 9:42 am #48569AnonymousInactiveAs far as I know she hasn’t gotten into anything….. She started this on Friday and is still doing it as of thismorning…. She doesn’t want to eat, she is cranky, and she is sleeping alot… I think I will give the GI a call. Thanks
February 25, 2008 at 12:11 pm #48571AnonymousInactiveAny fever? How’s the lips, dry/cracked? I would be concerned with hydration first, and then with lethargy…. If you don’t get an answer from teh ped, or the GI, might be worth a trip to the ER? They can do a quick xray and that might give them more info?
Let us know what the GI says…..February 25, 2008 at 12:15 pm #48572AnonymousInactiveNo fever, lips seem normal.. I just talked to the nurse at the GI’s office and she is going to call me back as soon as she talks to the GI. I have been thinking about the ER too…
February 25, 2008 at 2:22 pm #48575AnonymousInactiveI don’t know this for sure, but when Ben was pooping every color of the rainbow, I’m pretty sure I read that any color is ok, EXCEPT white. I don’t remember why or what the white poop means, but I think a trip to the ER wouldn’t be a bad idea.
February 25, 2008 at 2:27 pm #48576AnonymousInactiveI have been doing some research online, and everything that I find that has to do with white isn’t good, it all points to the liver not allowing bile to work like it should…. I still havn’t heard back from the GI…I was trying to wait and see what he had to say…. If I don’t hear something soon, I am defenitly going to the ER…
February 25, 2008 at 2:31 pm #48578AnonymousInactiveLet us know what you find out!
February 25, 2008 at 2:54 pm #48579AnonymousInactiveOK, good luck! Hopefully it is nothing and a wasted copay at the ER, but better safe than sorry. I am also curious what you find out….
February 25, 2008 at 3:38 pm #48581AnonymousInactivekeep us posted. How scary for you. Hopefully, everything is fine but I agree I would go to the ER just to be sure.
February 25, 2008 at 4:51 pm #48584AnonymousInactiveok well i still haven’t heard back from the GI so I am going to ER… I am tired of waiting around….
February 25, 2008 at 5:33 pm #48587AnonymousInactiveI’m so sorry! I hope that she is okay. We’ve had a lot of poop talk due to Hailey’s pooping issues, and I remember the GI asking about white poop. I think he said it could be a sign of fat malabsorption. Keep us posted.
February 25, 2008 at 8:53 pm #48601AnonymousInactiveOh gosh…please keep us posted. I hope it turns out to be nothing!!
I posted several months ago about purple poop. I could NOT figure out what it was until I realized that when I put Desitin on her butt the combination of Desitin and the poop made her poop turn purple!! Hopefully it is something silly like that and not more serious…
I’ll be thinking of you guys…
February 27, 2008 at 1:59 pm #48643AnonymousInactiveWell, we went to the ER Monday night and the Dr. was a real jerk… He acted like it was nothing and didn’t want to pay any attention to her until I thru a fit and made him… Turns out she was dehydrated, and has a parasite in her intestines….. He sent her home told me she would be over it in a few days and to give her pedialyte. Well of course that didn’t work, so we ended up back at the ER yesterday and they had to give her fluids through a IV as well as antibiotics. Her blood work showed an infection, turns out she had a intestional tract infection.
