Please check out this video of Justice sleeping and tell me what you think. I am a little disappointed because the video didn’t come out so well on youtube. What you will see is what he does all night long. Every 10 – 30 mins all night long. Also listen to the cry. I could tell you what I think, but I don’t want to sway any opinions.

thank you

thats what i thought too. has he slept in something other than that amby?
October 25, 2006 at 6:39 pm #16602AnonymousInactiveWOW! That would be hard to watch. Poor little angel
Does he do that on a firm surface when he sleeps or just in this bed?
It does look like he feels like he’s falling. Maybe he’s dreaming? Here’s a far out one for you… maybe in a past life, he fell to his death? I know, it’s waaayyy out there
October 25, 2006 at 7:37 pm #16609AnonymousInactiveToo funny Lucky Lucy! He does it no matter where he sleeps. I hate that you can’t see his face in the video. He looks to me like he is in pain and it is waking him up. When we got his eeg done the lady doing the test saw the video and said he was in a deep sleep. I am going to show it to his ped tomorrow. We will finally get the results of the eeg tomorrow.
I am now sleeping with Justice and just letting him nurse all night long. I know bad habit, but I am finally getting some sleep. I never thought I could sleep with a baby nursing on me, but to my suprise I can.
Does the cry sound abnormal to anyone? Justice actually gets upset when he hears the video play too.
Thanks everyone.

October 25, 2006 at 8:14 pm #16613hellbenntKeymasterI haven’t looked at the video, but can you swaddle him?
as for breastfeeding him all night; you gotta do what you gotta do
October 25, 2006 at 9:15 pm #16617AnonymousInactiveDoes he actually drink most of the night? If so, I’m thinking he’s “putting out the burn” and so it may be pain.
The cry to me sounds like my kids reflux pain cries. It’s not pleasant to listen to. I will say though that you know Shelby best and you know what his cries sound like. AKA a hunger, change my diaper, tired, pain, change my position. When I say that, do you think of different cries? And in your heart, is the night time crying like his “I’m in pain” cries? I say “in your heart” because you probably already know the answer.
PLEASE post and update us after the appt. Good Luck!!
October 25, 2006 at 11:13 pm #16622AnonymousInactiveJustice stays latched on most of the night. It does sound like his pain cry to me. I just don’t know for sure what the pain is from. He is already getting 5 ml 3x a day of Zegerid, but him staying latched on does seem like he is putting out the burn. He actually just got 2 teeth at the same time and it seems like he is working on more. You know runny nose, cough, tons of drool, and chewing on anything he can get his hands on.
You know what is so hard about reflux babies is there could be so many possibilities as to why they are hurting or crying or even waking up.
Oh, swaddeling. Justice was swaddled for a long time, but the swaddeling didn’t help either. when he was swaddled just his legs would go up in the air. Not his arms too.
I hope all of this makes sense. I am tired so off to bed I go.
October 26, 2006 at 12:53 am #16624AnonymousInactiveHenry’s 19 months and I still don’t always know why he’s having a bad night. I’m learning that I don’t find out what it was until after the fact…OH< It was because he was teething, ‘cuz there’s a new tooth. Yeah, I’m slow at catching on.
I was amazed at how much medication Henry needs to control his reflux!! It’s a real eye opener for me. His prevacid was just upped to 2x’s/day. He sleeps much better. He’s on 15mg prevacid 2x’s/day, 2mg periactin, and 3mls pepcid. That’s a lot of reflux med for a little kid. Just saying all that as an example. I thought his reflux was controled until we added the extra dose of prevacid. I did it reluctantly thinking he didn’t need it. Found out differently.
I wish you all luck at the appt.
October 26, 2006 at 8:26 am #16627AnonymousInactiveoh god it’s so hard to tell if it’s him having a bad dream, and then being startled….. but if he does it all night??? maybe the amby bed is weird for him?? the cry seems to me like a “holy #@!$ cry”. he seems to be in a deep sleep. I know it’s so hard to tell whether it’s from the reflux or not. i know that my daughter cries like that when she is either starving or in pain. well good luck and let us know how the eeg turns out
October 26, 2006 at 9:08 am #16628AnonymousInactivePoor little Justice – my guess is either a pain or a scared cry. Hope you can find out something to help him.

November 4, 2006 at 1:28 pm #17199AnonymousInactivei think its the reflux waking him, and than he is upset or scared from getting woken up that abruptly. my son seems to startle and jump like that all night long as well, around every 10 to 20 minutes. he’ll be in a deep sleep and than all of a sudden his body jerks… but most of the time doesnt fully wake up. he sleeps on his stomach.. maybe thats why he doesnt seem to startle as much as your son. have you tried his stomach?

November 5, 2006 at 12:11 pm #17223AnonymousInactivePoor baby – have you tried a crib?? Matthew was much the same and then at around that age, we moved him to a crib and he would startle but also move to one side or to his belly and started to learn to calm down on his own – my thinking is he felt trapped….
November 5, 2006 at 3:08 pm #17227AnonymousInactiveI’ve been thinking about this video a lot lately.
As we struggle to get Lucy’s reflux under control, she struggles with her reflux.
When she is refluxing – when she’s awake – she flails her arms up like she’s falling and gets a shocked open eye look on her face. Just like Justice in your video!!
So, my vote is that it’s reflux.
