I just have to vent, I am sorry! Here is how my week has gone…
Sunday: DH leaves for skiing trip. I know what your thinking, but this was planned before I even got preggo. The “deal” was he could go if this baby didn’t have reflux. Ha!
That night is a horrible storm, the dog wakes up the baby by crawling under the bassinet to hide. Older son keeps getting out of bed.
Monday: I am exhausted. Baby sleeps for 5 to 15 mins at a time. Older son is a total brat and beats up on dog all day long. Baby still fussy after eating.
Tuesday: Call Dr ( per her request ) to tell her the Alimentum isn’t really all that great. She want me to come pick up stool sample kit. Buy some Alimentum RTF, just for kicks.
Wednesday: Spend all day waiting for baby to poop. It is so watery I don’t know how I’m supposed to put it in little vials. Finally has a blow ou of mucous. Get it to Dr just before she closes. Older son wakes up during the night multiple times crying. Thought it was just bad dreams… Finally at 4 am he is puking. Put him in bed with me. He is “all better” and hyper. Falls asleep at 6, baby wakes up at 7. Both up at 9
Thursday: Parasites culture negative, bacteria negative, waiting on viruses. I ask nurse if they are checking for blood. Nurse says if it’s not visible, it’s not a problem…
Trying to keep kids away from each other, spend all day doing puke laundry and disinfecting.
Friday: I’m coming down with a sore throat, older son very cranky, runny nose. Granparent announce they will be here tomorrow…
Good news is that baby seems to be doing LOTS better on the alimentum RTF.
The last thing I want to hear from well meaning family members is that “these days will be over before you know it” PROMISE????
Calgon take me away!!!

OK that wasn’t helpful Therese!!!!
I reckon when hubby gets home you and the dog need some big time out…maybe a day spa for you and a visit to the doggy beauty parlour for the mutt (sorry but thats a term of endearment here in Aus!)

UM???? what about OCCULT BLOOD (ok sounds like a bad slasher movie! but seriously isn’t this when it is NOT visable??)

I sure remember those days. When Myles was a few months old and we were in the midst of reflux hell I was sitting on my bed with all three children pumping breast milk because he wouldn’t nurse. Ellie was sick with some horrible bug that brought us to Urgent Care the next day, and Liza proceeded to puke all over our king size bed, all over me, all over the breast pump, baby and you name it. It took me HOURS to clean it all up. I’ll never forget that horrible night.
But, it does pass. This winter they’ve all been healthier than they’ve ever been and Myles is reflux free and happy.
I hope Alimentum RTF continues to be at least part of the answer for him.

I know, I just wanted to reach through the phone and strangle her!!!
We have his 2 mo appt Weds, so I may ask her to check ( I’ll bring the diaper and THEY can dig around… )
Oh man Christine, I feel your pain. And I know you look back on that and probably still grimace! I know it will pass, but man, when? I just want to curl up in a ball with a bag of cookies and sleep for three weeks.
I am trying to focus on the fact that Cooper is doing so much better. He is notably crankier after his meds though, and has a hard time sleeping afterwards too. Compared to a few weeks ago, I’ll take it. Just wish we could get these last few kinks worked out. Kinks are better than huge tangled up knots though!!
March 18, 2007 at 9:58 am #27730AnonymousInactiveI’m glad to hear he’s better overall. I hope things continue to improve. How long has he been on his current prevacid dose? Hopefully that cramping after meds stops soon. It was pretty bad with Myles for those first two weeks. I remember thinking, “what else are we going to have to deal with?” It was so discouraging. But it did pass. I hope it does for Cooper too.

I also hated it when family members used to dish out their platitudes (or worse) at us. One day I thought if someone else said “this too shall pass” I would strangle them!
