Nicholas had his EDG and sigmoidoscopy today. I am happy to report that the GI didn’t see anything abnormal. The biopsy reports were sent to the pathologist and we should hear back on Tuesday with the results. Poor Nicholas got stuck a bunch of times for his IV, but they never could get a good one. So he went without. Thankfully, he was out of it, so he never knew. The GI was going to let me watch the procedures, but the anesthesiologist said no way. All in all, everything went well. He upped our dose of Carafate for now and will discuss the Prevacid increase at our follow up appointment. The nurses at our hospital are amazing and my little man charmed them all. Here’s the pics the GI gave me of Nicholas’s insides. Sorry if it’s big.

I am not trained but I don’t see any inflammation or ulcers which is a good thing. Keep us posted on the med dosing.
April 18, 2008 at 8:48 pm #50592AnonymousInactiveI am glad that the scope went well and that everything looked normal
April 19, 2008 at 10:46 am #50602AnonymousInactiveI’m glad everything tuned out alright. Before the scope, I was hoping they’d find something, so he could finally get “fixed”. Now, I’m glad he’s okay b/c if the GI found something, I’d be one more thing to deal with. Plus, he’s my baby and I don’t want anything to be wrong with him.
I’m glad I got the pics. How many little kids can say they have pics of their insides? I put them in his baby book, along with his ID band. Thanks everyone for your encouragement and thoughts!April 24, 2008 at 9:56 pm #50829AnonymousInactiveI got the biopsy results today. GI says everything is normal. We have a follow-up on May 9th, and he said we will discuss our treatment options then. Cross your fingers for a Prevacid increase.

I got the same pics of Landen’s insides.I hope you get the prevacid increase.May 18, 2008 at 4:48 pm #51550AnonymousInactiveHi there. I know that I have beeb following your little guys story in the other forum, but I can’t remember why they decided to do the endoscopy? What were they looking to rule out? I ask becasue they are going to do one on my son now too.
May 19, 2008 at 12:12 am #51564AnonymousInactiveThe ped GI wanted to rule out severe things (at this moment I can’t for the life of me remember what) before he rx’ed a higher dose of Prevacid. He wanted to make sure that he wasn’t just Band-aiding a serious problem that needed to be treated.
The endo wasn’t that bad. They also did a sigmoidoscopy on my son to look at his lage intestine, rectum, etc. The worst part was the 4-hour fast before the endo. My son is a big eater and thinks he’s being starved to death if he hasn’t eaten in the last 2 hours -
