I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be able to switch doctors within the same practice. I’ve done it a few times. As long as your insurace covers the doctor you should be able to choose any doctor you want.
I, too have had the best luck with my family doctor. They deal with reflux in adults all the time so they are more familiar with the meds for reflux and also with the symptoms, and they know it’s painful. Peds often see a “fussy baby” and, with or without saying so, assume it’s a parenting problem; like over feeding. Family docs get to talk to grown ups who are in pain from reflux and can describe that pain. I really think that makes a difference in how they perceive their infant patiens with reflux.

I think the bad thing about switching in the same practice is that sometimes you might end up with the doc. that you switched from. I would say that wouldn’t be as likely with a gi, but more likely with a ped or family doc.
Very good point about the family doctor! Maybe that is part of the reason we were able to get help this time around.Of course, Dr. Phillips had a huge part to do with it. My sons ped is actually a family doc.

(maybe 2) wasn’t much help, but the doc we saw wasn’t one of the greatest in the group, Tiffany (seth’s mom) goes to the Gwinett office and has had good results with one of the docs…can’t remember his name but I’ll do a search for you!! I’ll also ask my sister’s MIL She is a nurse at a ped’s office and knows a lot of the ped GI’s here.

November 17, 2006 at 2:51 pm #18265AnonymousInactiveTo Aidan’s Mom…I live in East Cobb too!!! Pretty close to you, it sounds (in Indian Hills). I would appreciate anything you could find out about the docs. I called Emory’s center today and they can’t see him until LATE JANUARY!!!! Let me know what you find and thank you SO much!

i would honestly take him off the soy… if you dont want to go to the neocate until you get a presciption than at least do one of the hypo RTF’s ….
and i am sooo sorry you had such a jerk for a doctor… i think you should go and see your family doc as well in the mean time…
i hope things get better for you soon!!
November 17, 2006 at 4:37 pm #18274AnonymousInactiveWe’re in Canada, so of course it’s probably differenct, but I’ve never been able to switch to docs of the same specialty within the same practice. Often the new doc won’t take the referral as a matter of courtesy to the one being ditched. Hope it’s different for you over there.

Still, Jacob and Logan are pretty close in age, and Aidan actually plays really well with little ones (I think it’s because they aren’t a “threat” to his toys yet-LOL) I’ll send you that pm! Sorry about the mixup!- Just read your pm, AFTER I wrote mine-lol I forgot to mention Aidan has a cold, it’s getting better though and should be gone in a few days!!! I’ll give you a call once his cold is gone, I’ll give you a call, I’LL still sound horrible-lol but I’m not sick, I just lose my voice EVERY year around this time, so embarassing!!!!
