i just realized we are paying $130 for zegerid every 10 days.
this is just insane. i cant do this!second, Trace is still behaving differently from his shots on friday. he has been crying all day every day. he still has a pretty runny nose. i dont know what the shots did to him but i cannot live with myself if i did something to permanently harm my own child…
November 21, 2006 at 3:14 pm #18655AnonymousInactiveIm sorry Trace is not doing well..hopefully as his sickness subsides he will get back to feeling better and like his old self soon. I know its rough, hang in there…
and I hear you on the cost issue…between Zegerid and Neocate we are barely getting by…my daughter is getting her neocate for christmas this year (she’ll be 5 months and we have plenty of toys from her older brother and clothes from friends so, we figure shed rather feel good and get cool presents when she’s older)
Good luck with Trace though
keep us posted
November 21, 2006 at 3:17 pm #18656AnonymousInactivethanks! these litle refluxers are expensive lol.
i called marci kids and they said in order for me to get prilosec with caracream i need an rx for 20 mg capsules.
Traces dose would be , according to marci kids 21-30 mg per day, and he always needs the highest dose, so say he is on 30 mg a day, i would def run out of 20 mg capsules before the end of the month right?
does anyone know if inusrance pays for these meds if you have to get them earlier than every 30 days?November 21, 2006 at 3:36 pm #18659AnonymousInactiveHmmm…..I really don’t know but I think it probably depends on the individual insurance company.
Can you ask your doc for some samples? Also I heard once that if you write to the drug manufacturer and tell them you cannot afford your medicaiton that they will sometimes help by giving you some free medication. Has anyone else heard that?
As for Trace being sick, I uderstand how scard you are about the flu shot and how it may have harmed him….but I think it’s more likely that he picked up some lousy infection at the doctor’s office. These bugs can last 7-14 days and they can really make a baby feel lousy. I’ve seen it happen to my three more times than I care to remember.
I hope and pray that he will be well soon.
November 21, 2006 at 3:39 pm #18660AnonymousInactivethanks christine,
i already called santarus-company that sells zegerid, they said they dont have any assistance like thatNovember 21, 2006 at 3:56 pm #18663AnonymousInactiveSomeone once posted that they got formula paid for through the children’s miracle network. Will they also help with meds? Just a thought.
I’m sorry to hear that Trace still isn’t feeling well. I do agree with Christine, he probably picked up some nasty bug at the docs office. Also, after my flu shot, my arm hurt for quite a few days, it was really uncomfortable, so that might also be it. I really wouldn’t worry that you did any permanent damage… I can’t even imagine what kind of damage you might be thinking of. Hope he’s feeling better soon. I’m sure then he’ll be back to his old self.
November 21, 2006 at 4:07 pm #18666AnonymousInactivethanks Lori.
i actually called the childrens miracle network after i believe it was Abbysmom told me she got that in south dakota. here in chicago they told me the childrens miracle network is for their sick patients in their hospital. they sounded very annoyed with me.
so yeah, i have tried everything pretty much, its useless!November 21, 2006 at 4:19 pm #18668AnonymousInactiveSorry to hear that. Good luck.
November 22, 2006 at 12:41 pm #18760AnonymousInactiveany chance you could make up the difference in amount of meds with the over the counter prilosec—or would that still end up costing too much?
November 22, 2006 at 12:46 pm #18762AnonymousInactivehmmm…
how would you give over the counter prilosec tablets to a baby…thats the thing i have no idea, and i know you cant crush them because it destroys the coating which prevents it from disintegration in the stomach.November 22, 2006 at 1:32 pm #18767AnonymousInactiveMaybe if you switched him to Prilosec with caracream, you could get help from the company which makes Prilosec.
I’m curious too about how you could give OTC Prilosec to a baby. It sure would help a lot of people if you could.
Also, have you checked to see if you qualify for your state’s insurance program for children? Most states have some kind of health insurance for children who are uninsured or underinsured. They usually have great coverage and pay for almost everything. When I was on medicaid for a disability I qualified for the state’s health insurance and it was great. It paid for everything!! I paid less than 5 bucks for my asthma inhaler which we now pay $40 for after insurance.
How’s Trace feeling today?
November 22, 2006 at 3:12 pm #18771AnonymousInactivehe is already on medicaid, isnt that the state insurance?
im so confused.
maybe i will look into the company thar makes prilosec to see if they assist.
well first, we have to see if he will even swallow the stuff
November 22, 2006 at 4:31 pm #18779AnonymousInactiveJoel posted that the OTC prilosec is a tablet. You crush it up and add it to the CaraCream… the coating doesn’t matter b/c it’s in a buffered suspension. If you look up his thread on it, you can find his exact words.
November 22, 2006 at 4:43 pm #18784AnonymousInactivei am sorry he isnt feeling well.. i wouldnt worry too much.. shane always gets sick after his shots.. and isnt himself for a good 4 or 5 days! i know that getting the shots brings your immune system down, and making it very easy to catch something, on top of the fact that the shot probably doesnt make him feel too hot in the first place..
dont worry!!(i know its easier said than done)
hope he feels better soon~lauren
