I wasn’t aware that they look for stomach emptying with an upper GI. There’s another test they do to look for DGE (delayed gastric emptying). Yes, dge does effect appetite. I’m quite sure Myles had it. His digestion seemed to be so slow and his appetite so small. His doctor said dge is common in reflux babies and that the drugs to treat it have many side effects so she prefers not to test for it or treat it unless the baby is not eating and not thriving. I agreed because as soon as Myles was on the right meds for reflux his eating improved, although his digestion was still very sluggish. His dge seemed to improve dramatically at the same time he outgrew his reflux.
How old are your boys? Are they on any meds? If you put some information about your babies in your signature it will help us to keep track and not ask the same questions all the time. Go to settings, then edit profile.
