DR Phillips created zegerid with babies in mind. he works at the midwest acid reflux childrens institute, and works with babies.
zegerid is just prilosec but with sodium bicarbonate that makes it an immediate release suspension.
we use prevacid with caracream, which is also made my dr phillips, so we dont have to time wtih meals. its the original zegerid. basically, just baking soda and some other ingredients. maybe look into that. its a stable compound, much more stable than what any pharmacy would make for you.

Thanks
April 11, 2007 at 3:55 pm #30102AnonymousInactiveShe is adorable! How old is she?
I hope the Prevacid or Zegerid works for her. Caden is currently med-free, but he doesn’t sleep well, so I wish we could find something for that. Otherwise, he is great – daytime is great now. I think he must have had some colic separate from the reflux as a newborn, because the Prevacid never helped with that, and his sleep was never helped at all by Prevacid. The lack of sleep now DOES seem related to his reflux, but I still wonder if it’s more nonacid since he doesn’t scream out or anything but just wakes and acts annoyed. We’re still trying to figure it out and still wondering if his sleep will just take some time to improve.
Good luck!
April 11, 2007 at 4:27 pm #30108AnonymousInactiveThank you! Brielle is 6 months 2 weeks now. I would post a ticker but our signature only allows 200 characters and with her slideshow and ticker, thats like 213 characters 🙁
The first week or so off the Zantac has been kind of rough but she seems to be getting a little better every day. Hopefully it will continue to get better. I was told it takes about three weeks so its just a wait and see game right now 🙂
April 13, 2007 at 4:25 pm #30439AnonymousInactiveSorry I’m getting to this late…that is SO wonderful that your doc agreed to up your lo’s dose, I’m sure relief is on it’s way now, if it hasn’t started to take root yet! We did our doses about 6 hours apart at first-7am, 1pm, 7pm (or about 1/2 before or so), but now that Dagney’s feeding schedule has changed, we do the first around 7, the 2nd often only comes about 4-4 1/2 hours later since she gets lunch around 12, then she gets the last one around 6:30. She normally wakes up for the day around 7 and is usually passes out for the night by 7:15/7:30, so we had to work around that. Our Pedi originally wanted us to do 7.5mg every 6 hours around the clock, but we took it on our own initiative just to do about 10mg 3 times/day since she was sleeping through the night & we didn’t want to wake her up.
I noticed great improvement almost immediately, but it did take a few weeks for the total effect to kick in.
