Well, I was begining to think that my little man was MSPI, because he was spitting up and having the same issues and symptoms on Soy as he was on Milk based formulas. So I called my Doc and he didn’t know where to go from there, so he sent me to a PED GI *FINALLY*
The GI took a look at Conner..looked in his mouth, felt his belly which was sore from constipation and got his symptom/formula history which I had written down in full detail for him to read lol.He also shared a few interesting facts with me about Prevacid…which I will share here as well. I will post the Prevacid information I recieved on the *Introduction page*Anywho- Conner got his Zantac dosage raised to the max which is 1.5 ML 2 times a day. He is also having 1tsp Dark Karo Syrup added to his formula 2-3 times a day to help with the constipation. He gets 1 tsp of Mylanta Supreme as needed, and he is having us add baby oatmeal to Conner’s Last bottle of the night. The scary part is that Conner has NOT gained any weight in almost 2 weeks, he is still 11 pounds 12 ounces. The GI said it’s not a big deal unless a month goes by with no weight gain. The GI set up and Upper GI for Conner next week to get things looked at. I go back in a month, but I am supposed to call 1 to 2 times a week to update the doc on Conner’s progress. We did all the things we were told to do for Conner lastnight, and that baby slept so good. I gave him his increased dose of Zantac at 6:45pm Fed him 30 min later, Gave him a bath and 1tsp of Mylanta for the night…and around 10pm he decided he was tired and got a bit fussy, BUT the difference…..I was able to lay him in his crib without him fussing, and he went straight to bed, and slept from 10pm till 5am. So…so far so good…but we will see how long it lasts lol.OH BTW: It’s not MSPI but it is severe Reflux, so im relieved…but sad because I don’t like seeing my baby in pain.December 2, 2008 at 6:49 pm #59137hellbenntKeymasterwe replied here about Prevacid & babies:
as for the Karo syrup (the doctor agreed about this?), it seems as though you’ve got a very ‘old fashined’ doctor?I would think he would want to figure out the CAUSE for the constipation?constipation actually is a symptom of mspi- read page 2 of here:Mspi/allergy info(‘main page’): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2697&PN=1&TPN=1
Here are some other remedies for constipation:Sheri’s constipation remedies for non solids baby (solution p2): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9263&PN=2
anyway, regardless of what I or any of us think, the important issue is YOU and how you regard the dr. So, I’m glad that you are pleased w/ your doctor!

So since you are seeing good things you amy see a weight increase. Withte weight increase you will start to see bad things….does that make sense. They out grow the dose.
