The last post I made on this forum occurred when I was in great distress:
I thought I would come back and provide an update.
My son’s reflux peaked to it’s worst level ever when he was 3-4 months. At his worst he never slept peacefully and would have horrible crying/howling fits where it sounded like he was being tortured and there was nothing we could do for him to make him feel better. It was just TERRIBLE, to say the least.
Now he is almost 6 months old and has GREATLY improved. He started solid foods, and so far her can digest oatmeal, pears, sweet potatoes, bananas, and squash. (I am hesitant to try out apples and green beans just yet)
He is also holding his head up and sitting well, and he will be crawling any day. With this new control over his body, and the solid food- he is a new baby.
He is still on Alimentum (ready to feed) and has 15mg of prevacid in the morning and 2 ml of Pepcid at night. He hardly ever needs Mylanta anymore though, which I am VERY happy about. He sleeps from about 9pm-7:30am (still on the Tucker Sling on his tummy), and he is teething and it does not seem to bother him too much thanks to Hyland’s teething gel. He is still not much of a napper, but he is sleeping at NIGHT and that is all that matters to me right now….
He is a happy little boy who is thriving and our household is so much more peaceful and full of joy, now that the reflux is finally getting better.
I want parents out there to know that there is HOPE. It’s true, it does get better.
There was a time I felt like I was in total Hell, now things are so much better and I am actually ENJOYING being a mom, and seeing my son happy.
It’s a great feeling.
