Tubes coming out and already infected!

Seth has been complaining about his ears over the past few days and Saturday he was crying with pain so I took him in to the ped. and sure enough he had infections in both ears.

She said both of his tubes are on the way out. I asked about following up with the ENT and she said that she did not think it was necessary at this time and maybe he won’t get the infections as often now that he is older but I am concerned because

his ears were just checked a few weeks ago and the tubes were fine so that means he is already getting infections as soon as the tubes are out. I just don’t want to go down the road again of him having infections non stop.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any advice? I did put in a call to the ENT’s assistant anyway but have not heard back yet.

I would definitely go back to the ENT. Call there even if your ped is willing to wait. I think I would go for my own piece of mind…..

I just got off of the phone with the ENT’s assistant. His dr. does want to see us but the earliest we could get in was Sept. 7th. The asst. said she was not sure if the dr. would want to wait and see if he got another infection or go ahead and replace the tubes with some bigger ones. So, I am glad I called! I’ll keep you posted.

You know if it’s this hot out and not even cold and flu season and he’s getting infections, you should probably save yourself the time and pain and beg, scream and demand tubes! Griffin didn’t go a season without infections until he was almost 3, but he never seemed to get them in the summer! Poor boy!!
