We got a 2nd set of tubes today and adenoids removed and I can’t say that it was much worse than the first set. We went at 6:15 and were home by 11 and he was crabby, but drank a 16 oz of pedialyte within the first hour, so I think he will be fine. He did throw up, mostly mucous stuff a couple of times as he was crying when they brought him out. He was not impressed with the nurses. They didn’t even need an IV or anything so I was happy about that.
It is beautiful here and girls state basketball this weekend so we decided to get out and shop a little and eat out. I think he might have a slight sore throat b/c he whines a little when he coughs, but ate like a champ. And it gave me an excuse to get some ice cream to share!
I would say the biggest thing I was worried about is his speech b/c he really doesn’t say more than “da, uh oh, ouch, hi, and bye” and he’s almost 17 mo and my pedi says “18 words by 18 mo” is the rule of thumb and he’s nowhere near that. I also know the 2nd is a little slower to talk, but his speech is not something I wanted to mess with.
Glad you didn’t have to go through the tubes! I was also not wanting to do it so close to summer, but we really had no choice. He had constant ear infection and fluid that antibiotics just didn’t cut.
