im holding him so i have to hurry. had a check up yesterday-was pretty much forced into giving him the flu shot.
he was up all night, fever, runny nose, sneezing , coughing, lots of buggers. i feel like a zombie and feel so bad for him.
i should have known better, the shot did this to me too….never again!
my poor baby.
what do you think?nataliachick7 2006-11-18 11:24:11 November 18, 2006 at 1:54 pm #18320AnonymousInactiveAww, sorry to hear that your baby’s sick. I heard that it’s a normal reaction to the flu shot. Did the doc warn you that this might happen and what you should do? I hope your precious one will feel much better soon (and you too!)
November 18, 2006 at 3:19 pm #18331AnonymousInactiveshe said it would be very very unlikely for him to get a fever.
but not only does he have a fever, its like he has a full blown flu.
i just dont get it.
to me this is not worth getting the shot, i didnt even want him to get one to begin with.
it doesnt make sense to me, why risk getting sick like this? if i would have said no to the shot, he wouldnt be sick, and probably wouldnt get sick at all because he is at home all the time anyway, so he wouldnt be exposed to the flu.
ah!nataliachick72006-11-18 15:19:32
November 18, 2006 at 7:28 pm #18338AnonymousInactivepoor little guy!
Yeah I skip flu shots with my kids for various reasons, its too bad your dr made him get one
get well soon trace vibes….its no fun to have little ones who are sick
November 18, 2006 at 9:14 pm #18346AnonymousInactiveI’m sorry to hear Trace is sick. My friend felt lousy after her flu shot and had flu like symptoms. I didn’t think it was that common. My kids all did fine….at least I think they did. They did seem to have runny noses for a few days but I assumed it was a cold and not from the shot.
My friend’s symptoms only lasted two days (I know that’s long enough), so hopefully he’ll be better quickly.
Did you report this to the doctor? I would because they are supposed to report all adverse reactions to vaccines to the CDC.
I hope Trace is feeling better soon. Poor little guy.
November 19, 2006 at 8:27 am #18385AnonymousInactiveSo sorry to hear that Trace is sick. You really should never be forced into giving your baby “optional” shots. As for him reacting from the flu shot, I’m just going to play devil’s advocate… they can’t get the actual flu from the shot since it’s a dead virus and regardless it would take a few days for the body to mount a full blown response to it, since it incubates. Probably was brewing a cold beforehand that just came out. Hope he’s feeling better soon.
November 19, 2006 at 10:39 am #18388AnonymousInactiveOh dear…I hope he feels better soon. My daughter got the flu shot as well. My Dr. said she might get flu like symptoms, but it wasn’t really the flu b/c the virus they injected in her was dead…but when I got the flu shot when I was pregnant, they said I might get a mild case of the flu…go figure. anyway, when we gave Brianna the flu shot, i went ahead and gave her tylonol that night, ever though she only has a slight fever…I figured better safe than sorry. Do you have to go back? My daughter has to have the shot twice, because the Dr. said, if they gave her it all at once, that would be too much. I would call the Dr. too…I always say, better safe than sorry. For that reason, they know us well at the Dr. office.
November 19, 2006 at 11:14 am #18391AnonymousInactiveMy kids also got the shot… were both fine. Hailey now has a terrible cold a week later, but we’ve all been sick around here. Actually, they both did better with it than I did… my arm was really sore after for a few days.
November 19, 2006 at 11:53 am #18392AnonymousInactiveyea, i decided i am not going to do the second part of the shot..
i have done some research, im done with flu shots.
November 19, 2006 at 12:22 pm #18395AnonymousInactivesorry to hear that he is sick…. i remember the one year i got the flu shot i ended up getting the flu so bad i was out of it for like two weeks….. i guess that some people can tolerate it and some cant’. i guess i am going to let nature take it’s course from now on…. no more flu shots…. and if i get the flu ill just have to deal. hope trace feels better soon
November 19, 2006 at 12:46 pm #18396AnonymousInactiveBoth Abby and Kayla got their flu shots and are doing just fine. I couldn’t believe it but Abby didn’t even cry when she got hers. She was too busy chewing on her other foot . She is such a nut!!
How is Trace doing today – by the way, CUTE PICTURE!!

November 19, 2006 at 7:08 pm #18439AnonymousInactiveI’m sorry to hear that Trace is sick, we are unfortunately in the same boat, but there is a lot of vomiting going on with Taylor! Hope the both of the kids get better soon!
November 19, 2006 at 9:44 pm #18458AnonymousInactiveAAAHHH, there must be something in the air!! It’s another barf-fest around here also. I knew that Hailey was going to get sick after we took her to the peds to get her leg looked at. He was holding her hands and kissing her, and I didn’t want to seem paranoid, but all I could think of was all the germs that she was getting. I swear, we go in for one thing, and leave with something worse. I guess, ’tis the season…
Hope that it passes for all of them soon.
