Hi moms,
While I await the Digestive Health polls in the mail, I’ve added a few things to my diet such as lettuce, cucumber, wheat bread and chicken. Everything was pretty good and then today she had a very green runny poop. Not mucousy anymore, just runny. Is this something I should be concerned about? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! Katie
July 26, 2012 at 1:06 pm #70578AnonymousInactiveI have recently learned that there is a term MFPI (multiple food protein intolerance). I always said my children had MSPI (Milk/soy protein intolerance). But now I would say my children had MFPI. Because protein in general was hard for them to digest. In truth protein is one of the hardest things for the stomach to break down. So if your little girl is low on enzymes it might be hard for her to break down the chicken you ate and caused the green runny poop. Just a thought! 🙂
July 26, 2012 at 7:56 pm #70579AnonymousInactiveWell I got my digestive health pills today and I’ve taken 2 already! Fingers crossed for success! I’ll keep you posted!
July 26, 2012 at 8:07 pm #70580AnonymousInactiveOh that’s good! Yes I will anxious to see if they help your little one. I would hope that they help soon but at Core Health Products they say to give the pills 60-90 to have full effect. But it’s hard for me to believe it would take that long. My boys started feeling better in 3 days. 🙂 But they were already drinking alkaline water which helped them quite a bit. But I know of other moms that don’t have alkaline water and have said they have seen improvement quite quickly with just the Digestive Health.
I hope you don’t have any bad side effects. Even though me and my children didn’t have any, a lot of people complain of gas and some complain of diarrhea at first. 🙁 So I wish you the best!
July 27, 2012 at 8:09 am #70581hellbenntKeymasteryes, there is mfpi, so that’s why when doing the TED you add foods back in slowly and watch for reaction-
babies can react to so many things!my son reacted when I ate: tomatoes & tomato products, eggplant (night shade- so maybe that was it?), citrus & tuna (such an odd one! but I had it canned and as a seared steak…& baby reacted both times)other babies react to: beef, eggs, corn, apples, cinnamon, rice, wheat (not necessarily gluten, but wheat), beans/legumes (soy is a legume…)this is all just off the top of my head!anyway:keep us posted!July 29, 2012 at 3:12 pm #70589AnonymousInactiveWell I am on day 4 of the Digestive Health pills and so far no negative side effects, which is great! We haven’t yet seen improvement either, but I know that can take time. The only thing that has happened in the last few days is my milk supply has drastically decreased. I think I’m producing enough to keep my baby fed but I’ve been trying to pump here and there to get a stash built up for when I go back to work and I’m only getting a few oz at a time. Could this be related to the pills?

July 29, 2012 at 8:52 pm #70590hellbenntKeymasternot sure about the pills, but make sure you’re drinking a TON of water and eat lots of good fats (avocado, olive oil, flaxseed oil, etc)…
keep us posted!July 30, 2012 at 1:10 am #70591AnonymousInactiveHmmm that sure is too bad about the milk supply going down. I guess I was always taking the Digestive Health the whole time I was pregnant and nursing so I wouldn’t know if they made it decrease. I plan to talk to Chris at Core Health tomorrow and will ask if he thinks their could be any correlation between milk decrease and the Digestive Health pills.
Beings you’ve taken the pills for 4 days with no ill effects you could start giving baby a half of a pill a day if you wanted. But if you want to just stick with taking them yourself that’s fine. You would probably see improvement faster if baby was getting them directly plus you taking them.
I agree with Laura about drinking lots but I was amazed too at how much FOOD I had to eat to keep my supply up. I felt like I ate like a horse. It didn’t make me gain weight either. 🙂 Actually since quitting nursing I’ve lost some weight. But that I’m sure is partially due to the stress of losing my dad. 🙁
July 30, 2012 at 7:15 pm #70592AnonymousInactiveThanks! I’m going to try to call into your call tomorrow night so maybe I’ll hear his answer first hand! I don’t want to get my hopes up just yet but 2 out of 3 poops today were a beautiful seedy yellow!! The third was green and mucousy but here’s hoping we are on our way!!
August 2, 2012 at 1:59 am #70601AnonymousInactiveWell, the last few nights have been some of our worst yet with frequent tummy ache wakings, tons of spit up, and lots of gas. I’m not sure if there is any correlation to the probiotic and this or not, but we haven’t yet seen any more signs of improvement since those few yellow stools. Stool is back to green and mucousy. I tried to add wheat back to my diet the other day, so that may be a contributor. We also might be having a 3 mo growth spurt. Not sure what to do from here, as I’m short on supply for bottle feeding , so giving daily probiotic to the baby directly will be a challenge. Amy tips?
August 2, 2012 at 3:38 am #70602AnonymousInactiveI talked to Chris’s wife Liz that just had a baby. She said that she could not see any correlation with the Digestive Health and the decrease in milk supply.
I am so sorry that your little one is still having so many troubles. I am sure that the company would say to be patient. They normally say to give it a try for at least 60-90 days to decide whether it is helping or not. How many digestive pills a day are you taking? I would suggest taking one every time you eat including snacks. Taking 6-8 a day won’t be too many. Taking some on an empty stomach is good too. It is possible but not very likely that the pills could make symptoms worse temporarily.
If you are giving formula, what kind are you giving? I would give Nutramigen or Alimentum because the proteins in them are extensively broken down in them. Once your baby is doing better then you could try regular formula.
If you really feel that the pills might be causing your milk supply to drop or they are making her worse then you can always stop them for awhile and try again in a week or two. I know though that is can be SO hard knowing WHAT is causing the problems. I spent 4 years with my children debating… was it the corn? Was it the meat? Are they just overtired or being stubborn? Am I not training them right? ETC…. 🙁
I hope soon that you can figure it all out and find some answers. Keep us posted and ask questions. As you can see though I/we don’t always have answers but I/we will try. 🙂
August 2, 2012 at 11:58 am #70610AnonymousInactiveThanks, Martha. I’ve been taking about 3 pills/day, with meals. I’ll take more and see what happens.
My milk is back better, but not full force. It may have been due to lack of food from the elimination diet.
I haven’t given any formula yet. All bottle feeding has been from pumping.
I’ll keep you posted!
August 8, 2012 at 11:48 am #70692AnonymousInactiveSo for the last week or so, I’ve been taking 2 pills with meals and one with snacks for a total of about 6-8 pills/day. This seems to be helping a TON!! We now might have one small green (not mucousy) poop a day and the rest are nice and big and yellow! I even tried a very small amount of wheat again on Monday and saw no adverse reaction!! I’m awaiting another bottle in the mail and only have one pill left so I may have to go a day or two without, unfortunately, but I am very hopeful that we are making progress!! Does anyone know of an OTC (not mail order) probiotic/enzyme that i could grab at the grocery store/whole foods that is comparable to the Core Health Digestive Health pills that I can have on hand while I await the mail order ones? Or is it OK to just go a couple days without??
The reflux hasnt really gotten better, but she is a “happy spitter” so that wasnt as big of a concern for me. Thanks so much for the advice and support!
August 8, 2012 at 12:01 pm #70693AnonymousInactiveThat is SO awesome I’m glad to hear they’re helping. I am so sorry you’re running out of pills. 🙁 I can not tell you of an exact brand that is comparable but if you go on the Core Health Product’s site you can see what ingredients are in the Digestive Health and see if you can find something that compares. Also on my blog under the title “How to choose the right probiotic/enzyme supplement” you can get some info there what to look for. I am afraid if you go without the pills for a few days your little one will not do as well beings you’re still in “beginning stage” of getting her well. I will call Core Health Products and see if they have any suggestions.Happy Mom2012-10-05 17:20:05
August 8, 2012 at 1:16 pm #70696AnonymousInactiveChris at Core Health Products thinks that you might be ok without pills for a couple days. But in truth, he is used to dealing with adults than babies. He’s been learning a lot more about babies and reflux etc since we “came on the scene” though. 🙂 I think that my 3 and 5 year old would be ok for several days without the pills but beings your just starting to get things to improve for your little one I’m not sure.
But Core Health Products normally has very fast shipping. When did you place your order? You can call Chris and see how soon your order will be there or if you tell me your name, I will ask him. His direct number is 440-668-6373Happy Mom2012-10-05 17:23:18
