I haven’t been around much lately but check in periodically to see how everyone is doing. I just wanted to give a short little update on how things are going.
Last week, we decided to finally wean Abby off of her last dose of Zegerid (12mg which she was getting before bedtime). Happy to say, she has been med free for 7 days now and doing just fine. Other than the usual tantrums that an almost 19 month old experiences, she is doing great. She is talking much better and starting to combine words into short phrases which is so much fun. She gets so frustrated when we don’t understand what she wants and has quite a temper. Quite different from her sister who at that age was so meek and mellow – oh well, have to have one challenging one!!Kayla, our oldest, started Kindergarten on Wednesday and absolutely loves it. I am so proud of her. She is reading at over a first grade level and her teacher is just amazed. I give all of the credit to her Leapster game and the Learning with Phonics game we got for it. It was totally amazing at helping her learn how to sound out words and reading came very naturally to her.Welcome to all of the new members to the forum and remember, things really do get better. I know it is hard to believe when you are up with a screaming little baby for 23 out of 24 hours per day. It does get better, just keep fighting for your little sweeties until they get the treatment they deserve.Hope everyone is doing well and has had a great summer!!RobinAugust 24, 2007 at 2:20 pm #41598AnonymousInactiveThat’s terrific news Robin! I’m so glad to hear that Abby’s doing so well without meds. I bet it’s a big relief to have that all behind you now! That’s great that Kayla’s reading so well & enjoying Kindergarten too! My Isaac has really taken off with reading as well and it’s so much fun! Hope things continue to go well for you and your family.

I have thought about Abby a lot because Sarah needed to go back to her nightly 12mg too! I’m hopeful in several months we can try to wean her from it. It’s encouraging to hear your good news!
