How do you distinguish between teething and reflux? My daughter is getting 3 teeth (when those come in, she’ll have 8 teeth!) at the same time we are trying to wean her prevacid down (on dr’s advice). She is 10 months old, 7 months adjusted age. She was on 30mg of prevacid up until the end of March. At that time, she was teething and fussy. Then we weaned her gradually down to 15mg. She has been teething and fussy ever since. My problem is, if the reflux is bothering her I am willing to up her medicine, I just can’t tell whether it’s teething or reflux!! We give tylenol and motrin for the teething but sometimes they don’t seem to make any difference. I do notice that when she has a BIG burp (even wet), it doesn’t bother her – no reaction to it. So that makes me think it is not the reflux bothering her but instead the teething?? She does get hiccups – is that a symptom of reflux? I do hear her swallow quite a bit, but I guess that could be drool/saliva not reflux. Sometimes she takes a full 8-oz bottle, other times just an ounce or two and then tries to sit up and do other things. Sometimes fussy after bottles, sometimes not. Usually when fussy, wants to chew on something hard… Oh, I can’t wait until these last 3 teeth come in and we can sort out the teething from the reflux.
Thanks
