Hi–so I’m into day 3 of TED and day 2 of no solutabs. I’m wondering what this ‘baseline’ will look like? In other words….am I looking for it all to be gone (mucousy diapers, grunting, horrible sleep, pain cries, etc)? or just for it to improve? Could it improve without being on the PPI? I’m still waiting for the scrip for the capsules and to hear back about ordering the caracream. I read somewhere (dr. sears site?) that sometimes the sleep improves for a few days and then gets worse even while still on the diet..
any advice from the TED pros?September 17, 2008 at 8:08 pm #56787AnonymousInactiveI would think that you will see improvement and EVENTUALLY, you should see that the mucousy diapers will go away. As for the others, they will improve with diet, but they are also symptoms of reflux itself, so it could be that the grunting, sleep and pain are ALSO caused by the reflux pain. in that case, you would need to be on a med for those to improve.
It is possible, however, for all of it to go away just due to diet. There are moms on here whose babies found total relief just from diet restrictions. For us, it took about three weeks to see some real improvements. I hope that it won’t take as long for you.September 17, 2008 at 9:37 pm #56792AnonymousInactiveFor us the “baseline” eventually was:
-no more grunting-no mucous in diapers-yellow stool-no blood in diapers-no more stinky gas-no pain cries-no more reflux (yes, we are one of those unusual cases)His sleep is slowly getting better, but still leaves a lot to be desired.Anyway, hope this helps… I still use these factors (our ‘baseline’) every day to assess results of food trials. For us it took 4-5 wks to get a true baseline (esp w/ diapers)… not trying to discourage you, but that was our case.Keep us updated & hang in there.Edited to add: we were on 30mg of Prevacid until we got the baseline.erinntx 2008-09-17 21:42:06 September 20, 2008 at 9:48 pm #56921AnonymousInactiveHere is the improvement we saw (almost immediately) with TED:
– no more grunting– less spit-up– no more arching/screaming/latching on and off while nursing– no more green, mucousy stools– less cryingWe were on 15 mg solutabs (if memory serves) when I started the TED, and we did not see reflux pain improve (and SLEEEEEP) until we got on 30 mg Prevacid packets (then later moved to capsules). Oh, and the stinky gas didn’t really go away til we got off the solutabs.Edited to add: I just noticed it’s been a few days since you started the diet…..see any improvement yet? I’m hoping you will fast, but I know it may take awhile. Good luck!!!!Paula B 2008-09-20 21:50:17 -
