Hi all.
Thanks so much for taking the time to try and help me and my little guy. My DS is 8 weeks old and has had bloody/mucus poos, eczema, congested nose and some vomiting. He has never had stinky gas.
I eliminated dairy 6 weeks ago and then the top 8 a week later. He saw improvement straight away with the dairy- no vomitting, blood in poos and eczema started clearing. He continued to have mucus in every diaper and a stuffy nose.
I am now on on day 4 of TED and he seems worse. Eczema flaring up and blood in his poos which are turning green again. I am eating: lamb, rice, pears, zucchini, white and sweet potatoes, EVOO, sunflower oil, salt, pepper. I realized that the rice cereal I was eating had cinnamon extract, so stopped eating that 2 days ago.
So, I have two questions:
1)Should I eliminate something? I’m thinking either rice, lamb or white potatoes. The potatoes maybe because there is a family tomato allergy history and they’re both nightshades.
2)Should I give him probiotics or should I wait until we get a baseline?
I have read Erin’s sticky. Thanks again to any advice. I just feel so sad for my grumpy baby.
March 8, 2012 at 6:28 pm #70056hellbenntKeymasterhmm…I’d say try eliminating the potatoes for 4 days and if no difference, add them back and eliminate the rice…
I’d wait on the probiotics…

I was going to ask if you started eating something on TED that you weren’t eating before, like lamb, pears, etc? It could be that one of the TED foods is causing upset for your LO. My son did not tolerate pears even though they are low on the allergy list. I would say give it time, and try to swap something like quinoa for rice (just an example). Hang in there!!
March 20, 2012 at 4:15 pm #70092AnonymousInactiveThanks Rachel for the input. I ended up taking out rice to begin with, it’s been a week now and he’s not any better. I’m taking potatoes out starting today.
I didn’t eat turkey or pears really either, so I think I’ll take those out and add in quinoa.
From all of my searching it seems that the only food that I haven’t read someone’s little one reacting to is Zuchinni! Ha! I might be on a zucchini only diet soon!
Thanks again, it’s just so nice to know I’m not the only one that has dealt/is dealing with this.
March 26, 2012 at 2:09 am #70113AnonymousInactiveHow’s it going with the changes to TED? My daughter has had blood and mucous in her poo since she was 4 weeks old (she is now 12 weeks). I eliminated dairy and eggs for a couple weeks, then wheat and soy for a week and then went to TED except did chicken instead of turkey (its been 5 weeks now of TED). She was doing great until about a week ago, she started her crazy pain screams in the middle of the night so we took her back to her dr who ordered an abdominal xray to see if she has any blockages (she’s struggled to poo, always acts like shes constipated even though its runny, etc). X-ray showed no blockages but dr wanted us to go to ER if she had any more extreme pain episodes to rule out intussecption. Well, we were at the ER Fri night and ultrasound showed normal. I’ve been thinking about what could have changed as she was doing so good (even had the sweet buttery popcorn smelling poos), and I haven’t added anything to my diet. So now I’m really wondering if possibly because I was eating so much chicken and rice that its built up and has become an irritant? I started my trial today of eliminating both rice and chicken so I’m down to squash, zucchini, potatoes, pears, olive oil/salt/pepper. Hoping for good results and hoping you’re having success with your changes as well!

March 27, 2012 at 2:18 am #70117AnonymousInactiveBtw, I had a sprinkle of cinnamon on my homemade rice pudding and my daughter had 2 really bad days in a row…I had NO idea that cinnamon could hurt her, so maybe the cinnamon in the rice cereal is what caused him to get worse. Hang in there, this is all so confusing!
