I posted here a couple of months ago and I’m back again hoping for support.
My DD is six months old and I have been on a very strict TED for 3 months now (she had green, mucousy, bloody stool and reflux). I’m currently eating: chicken/turkey, rice, pears, summer squash, zucchini and brown sugar. All of my additions besides brown sugar have failed. We’ve determined for sure that she reacts to rice milk, potatoes, apples, oats, soy and corn (I haven’t even tried to add milk, egg or wheat back in).
I have lots of people who are concerned about my health as I am not currently on any vitamins or supplements. I’m planning on making an appointment with my doctor this week to have her check me out because I think I’m probably a little anemic or something. But maybe some of you can help me with some of my questions.
1) Someone told me this week that I may be putting myself at risk for developing allergies after being off of certain foods for so long. Is there any merit to this?2) I’ve tried to add three different multivitamins unsuccessfully. Two of them were “hypoallergenic”. Does anyone have any suggestions for others I could try? It’s just all such a long, frustrating process. When I add something to my diet I wait a week to see how it’s affecting her. Then it takes another whole week for her to clear up before I can add something else. We just failed the corn challenge (reflux, mucousy bloody stool) so now I’m waiting for that to clear up before I try her on some rice cereal. Thanks for any input!!!MandyMama toDD Ada 4/06DD Amelia 3/08August 26, 2008 at 12:48 pm #55745AnonymousInactiveUnfortunately I can’t answer your questions but just wanted to let you know that I’m right there w/ you. I’ve been on TED for 2.5mths & the only things I know he doesn’t react to is potatoes, squash/zucchini & pears. I’ve recently added in beef & I think it’s ok but everything else really has failed. We can’t even do rice (any form) or turkey… haven’t even tried chicken. So I can definitely relate to your frustration!
As for you developing allergies later I hope some of the other mamas on here that did TED for a long time (Dianne & Naomi) will chime in. I don’t think that’s true, but I might be wrong.I’ll be thinking about you!erinntx 2008-08-26 12:51:11 August 26, 2008 at 12:57 pm #55746AnonymousInactiveErin – I was reading some of your other posts – it really does sound like we’re going through a very similar situation! Although I wish no one ever had to go through this, it’s nice to know that there’s someone else out there who understands! I hope you start to see some improvement soon!!
