Swaddling

Has anyone noticed their LO refluxing worse after swaddling them? I swaddle my 9 week old tightly, because if he isn’t swaddled, he startles himself awake over and over again. However, I have noticed that he starts that familiar “squeak” and I hear him refluxing more after I’ve swaddled him.

Any ideas or advice?

not sure…swaddling worked wonders on my refluxer…I swaddled him, stuck him in a sling, stuck a pacifier in his mouth and away we’d go, lol!

My son HATED being swaddled. He would thrash and thrash until you undid it. He hasn’t been swaddled since he was 3 days old without having a fit. I imagine it must put more pressure on his stomach – so that could be why I guess

I am a little late on this response but wanted to also say that my 11 week old is the same way- we swaddle her hands together in front of her belly so I know it must push on her tummy when I swaddle her- which also explains why she fights to get out of it if her tummy hurts too…I haven’t found a solution yet, as she sleeps better swaddled at night…

My 2 refluxers didn’t like being swaddled @ all… my solution for my 2nd ds was to let him sleep w/ me until 4 mths old. Solution for 3rd ds (as he didn’t sleep that well w/ me) was the swing until almost 4 mths old.
