I haven’t posted in a while – been super busy. Christian had an adenoidectomy, frenulectomy, ear tubes, and a crichoid biopsy this morning.
Christian is now up and running around the backyard. His surgery started promptly at 7:45 this morning and just past 8am we were in the recovery room. The surgeon’s report indicated that the adenoids were so large that they had “crushed” the Eustachian tubes not allowing any ear fluid drainage. By putting the tubes in his ears and the removal of the adenoid tissue the Eustachian tubes now will be able to grow normally, his breathing will improve, as well as his swallowing and hearing. It was actually stated that he has been virtually deaf since February when the adenoid swelling was first noted on a cat scan. Crazy no one thought to mention any of this back then. But that is a whole other issue – not for this happy update.
The frenulectomy required just one stitch and he has already learned to stick his tongue out at Mommy, the little stinker.
We are hoping that within two weeks we will begin to see an improvement and the doctor feels we can even think about a “whole new child” in a matter of 3-6 months. We will resume feeding/speech therapy in approximately 2 weeks with our new therapist.
Thanks again for listening and all your prayers.
