Okay, I feel kind of like a big complainer since I just posted on the Boo-Hoo forum not too long ago. But I am having another one of those days….
I’ve been feeling very sore in the last couple of weeks, the same way I felt in the weeks after my son’s birth. I didn’t think this was normal since it’s been 12 weeks since I gave birth…. The funny thing is that when I went to my postpartum checkup at 6 weeks, the nurse practitioner said everything “down there” looked fine. So I scheduled an appointment today with the actual doctor who delivered and stitched me up after my delivery. (My DS tore me in several places on the inside and out). Turns out, several of my stitches had torn and scar tissue had built up and was causing me pain. The doctor said, “Hmm, wonder why the person who saw you at your first appointment didn’t notice this. It’s obviously been this way for awhile.” So thanks nurse practitioner. Oh well. Anyway, I ended up having to have “reconstructive surgery” today and am now practically immobile for the next week or two.
So I can’t move around without being in pain, my baby and I have thrush that we can’t seem to get rid of, and we still don’t have a good treatment for the reflux. (Our ped. wants to wait until the thrush clears up to start a new treatment for the reflux). It’s just too much at once! Fortunately, my mom took the day off of work tomorrow to help me out and then it’s a three day weekend so my DH will be home. But I’m just feeling a little overwhelmed right now. I’ve already started feeling helpless when my baby has been crying and I can’t get up to walk him around and soothe him.
Okay, that’s enough for now. Thanks for listening!
August 29, 2008 at 4:04 pm #55872AnonymousInactivewhat are you using to treat the thrush—and are both you and zach being treated at the same time?
August 29, 2008 at 7:26 pm #55880AnonymousInactiveThe lactation consultant suggested gentian violet. It seemed to work to clear up his thrush, but it hasn’t cleared up mine. My nipples are still bright pink and it hurts on the left side to nurse. So now I don’t know what to do… because he seems to have cleared up, but if I still have it, I know I will just pass it back to him. We tried Nyastatin (however you spell that), but it didn’t work. Any ideas?

August 29, 2008 at 9:53 pm #55888AnonymousInactiveI heard that sometimes dr.s are reluctant to prescribe diflucan….
August 29, 2008 at 10:00 pm #55889AnonymousInactiveYes, I think they are… I believe you have to “push” for the script.
August 30, 2008 at 12:47 pm #55907AnonymousInactiveBeth-I got nothin for the thrush-especially since now we are exclusively pumping and not allowed to touch lips to boobie-we aren’t at all educated on thrush, but hugs to you for having a rough day. As if a sick baby wasn’t enough, you have to have an injured hoo-hah? You deserve a big hug, a purple heart, and an ice bag for your southern hemisphere!!!

You do need to push for diflucan! You are not a complainer, we are here to help. Thrush sucks!! HUGS!August 30, 2008 at 6:10 pm #55927AnonymousInactivei think that gentian violet is a hold-over from the dark ages and that nystatin isn’t far behind it.
sylvia looked like her thrush had cleared up and wasn’t in her mouth, but it was in her esophagus.
