Dr. told us that Ian sounds like he’s backed up even though he’s has watery bowel movements. (Very nice new GI we saw today btw-finally). Told us to start with Babylax for two days straight and said that we should see results and hopefully Ian will start eating again. If not, we’re going to more intense testing, etc. Well, I tried the babylax and nothing-it’s been 1 1/2 hours. He doesn’t seem bothered, had a little watery movement, and is just hanging out. Is this normal? Does it mean he’s not constipated after all? Anyone need to do it more then once? Or, did I do something wrong. Was hard to tell if it went in far enough with that tube-wondered if maybe it leaked out?
Never easy, right? He’s also still not eating more then an oz at each sitting.
Thank you.

We were told that babylax are actually more like an enema…so they really should work more forcefully as per my understanding. When Hailey had this at the emerg, it worked quite fast- within about 10-15 minutes and then KA-BOOM!!!! How much of the liquid did you put in?
I just wanted to add that I think that Karen has experience using these with Marisa so maybe she could be of more help.

Maybe he’s not constipated after all?? Oh, I really hope it’s not more serious.

we didn’t get much either – got much more the second time (and some
strong contractions too). But nothing was as good as the Miralax.I’d make sure he’s hydrated (because if he’s not it will be too hard to
come out even with suppository). I know that’s hard because he’s not
eating right now though. Will he dream feed at all? And try the
suppository again tomorrow? So glad you liked the new GI though. My Ped likes her too!

Same here. We got no results with the suppositories. I used the hard kind though. I don’t think there is much difference except that you have to hold their legs together until the solid one dissolves. We started the Miralax a few days later and holy cow look out – she kept pooping and pooping and pooping. I couldn’t believe how much poop came out!

February 16, 2006 at 8:00 pm #1722AnonymousInactiveThanks all. If tomorrow doesn’t work, I’ll be sure to ask about Miralax before testing. Good to know Ian’s not the only one and there’s still hope it’s just constipation.

be hard to see what’s going on in there if there is too much poop
blocking things up…February 17, 2006 at 8:56 am #1747AnonymousInactiveI am glad you like the new ped gi! Hopefully the Babylax starts to do its job soon!

She still does get constipated pretty often so just a little Miralax and she has a soft poop within hours. It is great since it is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, so you can put it in any liquid.
