So back to the Peds MD we went and her strep continues even though she was on Suprax and now she also has a double ear infection even though she just got her tubes placed. So a typical shot of Rocephin and now we switched her to omnicef to see what happens. I called and made an appointment with a Pediatric ENT as you ladies suggested for a second opinion on what could be done for her. She is just so miseralbe refusing to eat and if she does she just throws it all up, and I know her throat is bothering her since she keeps on sticking her fingers or toys in her mouth and gagging! I just want this all to end!!!

Keep us posted. HUGS.
May 15, 2007 at 2:59 pm #33318AnonymousInactiveI am so so sorry about the continuos strep problems! Poor Taylor! I hope the ENT has some answers for you.
May 15, 2007 at 3:37 pm #33322AnonymousInactiveOh, Sue! That sucks! I’ll be hoping for a speedy recovery and an excellent Ped ENT to point you in a good direction. Our Ped ENT will do the tonsils/adenoids prior to 2 (Dylan had adenoids at 19 months), but it just means a hospital stay for him if they are under 2. If it is what she really needs, I hope they do it soon!!!
Hang in there!!

May 15, 2007 at 6:48 pm #33353AnonymousInactiveThanks everyone! Well today Alexis and I woke up with the stomach flu, vomiting and bodyaches! Thank goodness my parents were home today, they were able to take care of Taylor so Alexis and I could get some rest! It is so hard trying to take care of others, when you don’t feel well yourself!
Anyways, Ann Marie, How did Dylan do with his tonsils out so young? Alexis had hers out at 22 months and it was so hard! We were in the hospital for 3 days and she was crying and whining the entire time and she would not drink anything, I had to basically sit on her to force syringe full of water in her mouth!
May 15, 2007 at 6:51 pm #33355AnonymousInactiveDylan only had Adnoids out at the 19 month mark and we did the tonsils a year later. The adenoids were very tough, fussy, etc…Close to what you describe for Alexis. But, once it was over, those issues were behind us….
Tonsils were not nearly as bad, but we did go back to the ER for fluid on day 2 as we thought he might be getting dehydrated. After they gave him fluid, he was able to keep up.
Tonsils were easier than adenoids for Dylan……
May 17, 2007 at 6:37 pm #33597AnonymousInactiveBack to the Peds office we went today since she is still running temperatures, refusing to eat, gagging, chipmunking food, and very fussy. The MD said her ears look much better and so does her throat. So off to the lab for blood work we went, she had a CBC, immunology labs, and a blood test for Mono. Hopefully she gets better soon and her bloodwork shows nothing!!!
May 17, 2007 at 7:12 pm #33598AnonymousInactiveOh no, Sue! That sounds terrible. I’m so sorry that you’re all sick there, and hope that the bloodwork turns up fine. HUGS.
