Hey all,
I haven’t posted in a while b/c Robbie is doing so well. He is no longer on any meds and has been eating 7 oz bottles! He also eats three meals a day. He eats breakfast and lunch and snacks at daycare. The problem we are having is that he eats all his food and never fusses at daycare and then when he is home with us he screams and cries while we are feeding him his solids. It happens most often with the evening meal. Breakfast on weekends is always a success. Lunch on the weekends is usually so-so, but dinner seems to be a struggle. He will eat a little and then cry. Then he will calm down and eat some more then cry again. (BTW, he is drooling like mad — so teething too) He was doing really well with it until he went to two other meals a day and now it is like he doesn’t want to eat his supper anymore. Anyone have any ideas?
TIA!

Do they give him something to play with or let him watch a movie? Sorry so many questions. Alexis does great for Breakfast and Lunch is always so-so hit or miss but dinner is always horrible, I don’t know why it is, but meal time seems to go the same way around our household.

Thanks for the reply. Last night I decided to put him in his high chair for about 15 minutes before dinner. I gave him toys and let him have some fun in there. He seemed really happy and relaxed and when he started to fuss a little I started feeding him. I didn’t take away the toys — which were all washable, thank goodness. He ate much better than usual, and when he needed little breaks he played with some toys instead of crying. I don’t know if it will work again tonight, but it did last night. I also let him play with a bowl and spoon for a little bit, and then I fed him from those things, which I think let him know that this was a good happy thing.
Wish us luck again tonight!

But often I would struggle to get him to eat 2-3 oz and they would say “what are you talking about he ate fine-5oz.” I started to think they were lying to me, but he was gaining weight. I wondered myself if it was distractions or if he just knew what he could get away with when it was me.
