My daughter’s ped asked to stopped giving prevacid to my daughter to see if it will work. She is currently 7 months old (5 months adjusted). She’s been off a week and these past few days we notice that she’s been eating less. She used to drink 7 ounces, but now only drinks 3 – 4 ounces. Initially, when she was first diagnosed w/reflux it was b/c of her vomitting, but now she no longer vomitts. We don’t know why she’s eating less if it’s b/c we stop giving her prevacid or b/c she’s teething concidentally. Any ideas? Also, she’s been really fussy lately. Thanks!

My guess would be that she still needs to be on medicine. 7 months is pretty young to have outgrown it…although it’s not unheard of?? Teething always throws a big question mark into the picture though. It’s just so hard to tell sometimes! My hunch is still leaning towards medicine though. Good luck!

I agree with Amy. From my own experience with two refluxers, and the research I’ve done, 9 months is usually the earliest that a baby will outgrow reflux. And she’s a preemie, so 7 months (5 months adjusted) is super early. The fact that she’s eating less is a good indicator that she’s beginning to feel lousy again. The fussiness is a possible indicator as well. Poor sweetie.

I also agree with the other girls. My GI Ped Dr wanted us to also wean Ashlynn off of her Nexium when she was 7 months and this did not work . I think that it lasted 5 days if that and back on the Nexium we went. Ashlynn is alomost 8 months and we go back to the dr at9 months. I would listen to the girls above becasue I am new to the reflux work.

Thanks. We put her back on Prevacid last night hopefully she will drink more milk and feel better. Does anyone know how long I should see the results?

ashlynn results where almost immediate,but now we are teething and boy was last night a reflux flashback. She wanted to be held all night and wanted me to walk with her, which is ok but Ash is big for her age 22lbs. And after about 15 min. of walking my arms get tired. Hope everything gets better
