Mandy-How is it going? I am also on the TED diet on dy 6. I am seeing changes in eczema and stool but not sleep………I just want the sleep to get better!!! Is your daughters sleep getting better? Is she on reflux meds? I took Collin off his meds and I wonder if he needs them back. I feel like the meds caused these issues but I dont know for sure.

I stopped dairy about 1 and half weeks before I started the TED. It took about 2 weeks of TED for her to sleep well. That dairy intolerance is wicked. She was painfully gassy for about a month. She sleeps through the night now (usually 9:30 to 5 or 10 – 6). The beginning of April, she started taking decent naps again. You start seeing improvement over time. The stool and skin stuff seem to resolve first and then the sleep kicks in.
Honestly, I have to credit her medicine in combination with the diet. She’s on prevacid (15 mg in the morning and 15 mg in the late afterrnoon/early evening). Once I started dosing it correctly, I saw MARKED improvement! It seems like the gospel on this forum (thank goodness I found this place!): give it on an empty stomach, wait 30 minutes to feed. I was worried about the dairy intolerance and the prevacid but her pain pretty much completely relieved. What kind of medication was Collin on? Zantac is a crock, by the way…
This is my fifth week of TED…I’m slowly adding foods. I’ve added bananas, avocados, mangos and peaches. I’ve stuck with it because I’m scared of Jaya going back to being miserable. I dare say that she’s a pretty happy baby now. I even put her flat on her back in the “jungle gym” I bought. So how much sleep is your sweet boy getting now? Is he MSPI? What medicine was he taking? Most importantly, are you taking care of yourself? Bless you heart, Lady! and hang in there…it does get better. I would say that we are 95% better a month and half after TED and proper medication.
Let me know how you are doing! I will be your cheerleader ; )Mandy

We started treating Collin’s reflux at 6 weeks and there was no sign of an intolerance or any other issue at that time. Then at about 4 mos I started to notice the skin issues followed by the mucus in his stool. I just feel like I should have seen the intolerance issue before now? So I took his meds away from him and now I am scared to give them back because I am so afraid that is what is causing the digestive issues. I know it sounds obserd but I did find an article on the internet that says this? Here is the article.
I do agree that zantac didnt really work for him either. It would intially but then it wouldnt work again. I did put Collin on prilosec for about 6 days then took him off b/c I swore his eczema looked worse and it made my fears seem true. I dont know. I refilled his precription last night but am afraid to give it to him in case it truly does cause issues? So I havent given it to him but might tonight since he is clearly miserable. He isnt crying he just wakes every 45 mins and doesnt ride well in his car seat. But he isnt fussy, shouldnt he be fussy if he truly needs meds?Collin’s sleep is all over the place. Latley he wakes every 45-1 hour and then I pop his binky back in pat him on the butt and he is out again. Repeat every 45 mins. Last night I elevated his crib and he slept 8-11:15 (was soaked in pee so I think that is why he worke up) slept from 11:20-3:20, then he was up every hour from then on I replace his binky at each wake and then he is back out. It is clear that something is waking him up but he isnt screaming just a mild fuss until I give him back his binky. His naps are the same 45mins to an hour then wakes up usually cranky so he isnt sleeping enough. I do know the first 2 days that I gave him prilosec he slept great at night but then the next couple of days were kinda crappy. But I wasnt on the diet at that point.I just worry that without the meds I can eat anything and it wont bother him but with the meds it does bother him?Do you have a suspicion about what you daughter is intolerant to? I am clueless as to what it is. I think he is MSPI but I wonder if it is more than that? The other day I had milk in my coffee ( I thougth I was putting him on formula but he had other plans) and it didnt seem to bother him that much??I am so looking for the better sleep I am so tired. How was your daughter sleeping before you got everything straightened out? I dont think I could do TED for a month and a half. I am so hungry:( I am so sick of turkey….April 28, 2009 at 6:40 pm #62323AnonymousInactiveHooray for the few hours of sleep in a row!!! Maybe he’s just really attached to that binky? Anyway, it’s a great start. How is doing now?
I bet you have him under control with diet…what a blessing.
I only base that on the level of fussiness. If the child were shrieking in pain, that’s a whole different story. Your sweet boy is allergic to something. Now it’s up to you to reintroduce foods to find out what it is.
This diet stinks to high heaven but I keep doing it because my baby finally acts like a baby. You should check out the “tracking down food allergies” page on Dr. Sears’ site.http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/T041800.asp
there’s a handy list of most and least allergic foods. You should also look at the TED suggestions here on this forum:
https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7498I never gave up garlic and that has pretty much saved me. Meat with just salt and pepper? YUCK. I like the casserole idea. I usually get ground turkey at whole foods; I pretty much pan fry it in olive oil with garlic, italian spices and cumin. When that’s pretty much cooked I add squash and zuccini and cooked rice pasta. More salt and pepper…It works for me and it doesn’t taste terrible.
Jaya slept okay at night when I started TED. Maybe 2-3 intervals…and absolutely no sleep during the day. Now she sleeps 8-9 hours in a row at night and has a few hour long naps during the day. Holy cow, I can’t even believe it as I type it…
I can tell you MSPI is nasty. It takes forever (like about a month) to get out of your baby’s system. So hang in there and look for creative ways to eat. Since you’re eating such a restricted diet, eat wayyyyyy more stuff. I eat the Ehreowan crispy rice cereal with bananas and sugar a lot! Mainly when I crave the sweet stuff. All I can say is eat eat eat…lots of sliced pears, pear juice, bananas ect. You can get ideas about how to reintroduce foods by looking at how to start babies on solid foods. Kind of follow that list and see what happens…Best of luck lady! I’m rooting for you.Mandy
