Hi everyone
I am starting the TED but also need to supplement as I pump like crap and he gets a bottle at bedtime. I have allumentum and Nutramigen. Which would you use? Also, do you think this sounds liek an intolerance? He spits up tons during the day, is always grunting and straining/redfaced trying to sit forward seems uncomfortable, but does not do this with pooping or gas. He doesnt nap longer than 20 minutes during the day, but sleeps pretty good at night. He also doesnt spit up much at night. He’s a fussy eater during the day but eats ok at night as well.He was on zantac with not much result, tried prevacid fastabs 7.5mg once a day, seemed to work for a week then back to same eating behaviours. Now he’s on domperidone with prevacid fastabs 15mg once daily, with zantac in the evening. No realy improvement except the spit up is a bit less. I am waiting on zegerid with caracream max in the mail.He doesnt have any rashes and his poops are normal (occasionally green and a little bit of mucous) but generally just yellow soft poops. He does tend to have watery red eyes but just looks tired mainly. Which I am sure he is since he sleeps like crap during the day.Sorry for the novel. Any input is greatly appreciated.Oh, he’s almost 5 months and weighs 19.5 pounds but his weight gain has recently halted and he’s been hovering around that weight for a few weeks now. His output seems low to me too but the doctors arent concerned since he is such a good weight. But it’s so frusterating that he doesnt nap, strains all the time, and is such a fussy eater.March 5, 2011 at 4:11 pm #67983hellbenntKeymasternot sure if it’s plain ‘ole reflux or intolerance, too.
poops being ‘normal’ make me think it’s not intolerance?maybe you’ll do the TED for two weeks, not see any change and then you’ll KNOW it’s not intolerance…that’s what happened to me…the prevacid just sounds LOW. You might have a case of an inproperly medicated baby & he sleeps at night bcse he’s exhausted…?have you had a chance to read Prevacid 101?Prevacid 101 last post on the page (has information about PPIs)In the meantime, I’d give zantac, too, making sure to dose it spaced 4hrs from the prevacid. Here is where to check the highest dose by weight:Zantac dosing– my/other’s question (has axid & pepcid doses, too):Here’s a handy chart to convert lbs to kilos:19.5 lbs = 8.8 kiloshighest zantac dose by weight is 10 mgs per kilo, so8.8 x 10 = 80 mgs total for the day of zantacyour bottle says 15mgs/ml, sofor every 1ml of liquid your baby takes, he’s getting 15mgs of the medicine zantacso 80 divided by 15 = 5.3 mls of zantac for the dayyou can divide this into two doses, & the doses can be ‘uneven’ so youcan give a higher portion before nap time…March 5, 2011 at 6:22 pm #67984AnonymousInactivehe has really smelly gas though. sorry i forgot to mention that.
