It seems like no matter what formula he is on he is a little gassy, but this one actually makes him have normal dirty diapers. That was an issue with everything else that we tried for him so I am hesitant to change.
Hi! Landen was on Prevacid SoluTabs and Neocate. We also had him on Alimentum and it worked great for us for about 4 weeks. But he was so intolerant to milk that the broken down milk proteins in Alimentum built up in his system and then he started poo’ing mucous and blood. So that is when we switched to neocate and things were great on that. He still drinks Neocate 1+ 50/50 with Oat milk right now. BTW- sorry for the horror story with the formula. Alimentum works GREAT for many babies. It depends on the severity of the milk intolerance. My older one Kaden had reflux as a baby, but his reflux went untreated for an entire 9 months. I didn’t know about this board and his old pedi brushed us off saying he had colic each and every time I called him or saw him. Now Kaden has a terrible aversion to having food in his mouth as a result.jilly782008-04-25 09:08:42

I called Walgreens today and they have the thickining stuff so I am going to try that. I just dont want the cereal to get him all backed up and gassy. I also am going to talk to the Dr on Tuesday when we go back about getting him on the correct dose. Thanks again for all the help!!!! O another thing does anyone have a baby like I do that is always grunting and trying to poop. Even if he has pooped he still grunts and his face turns red. Sometimes he even gets fussy like it hurts.
April 25, 2008 at 12:34 pm #50847AnonymousInactiveYes, my baby’s grunting was directly correlated with his milk protein intolerance. When we went on Nutramigen formula, the grunting lessened a bit. When we went on Neocate, the grunting stopped! The other day we ran out of Neocate and had to use a little Nutramigen…and we had major major grunting immediately and through the night. It took over two days to stop grunting again. But yes, I totally know the grunting. It would keep us up all night!

YES, our baby is just like that. She is getting much better over the last 3 days & we are doing several thing at once. Just started Prevacid, started probiotics about a week ago, and my wife is completely off of dairy. So it could be one or a combination of all three. We’re also much more careful about putting her on her back after eating. We always elevate her almost straight up for at least 30 minutes after feeding. She is still grunting and turning red while trying to poop or is gassy, she has explosive huge poops about 2x/day which is strange for a breastfed baby, but she is on lots of meds. She also takes colic calm which we think makes her pooping much easier, but runnier too.April 25, 2008 at 11:42 pm #50888AnonymousInactiveOk so do you all give mylanta for gas or for a bowel movement?
May 6, 2008 at 11:38 pm #51173AnonymousInactiveHi! My daughter just got diagnosed with reflux yesterday…so I’m new to all of this stuff. My doctor perscribed my daughter the prevacid solutabs. If I read your post correctly, you said that I can give her mylanta as well…as long as I wait 4 hours after giving her the mylanta? right? If that’s right, I didn’t know. Today, I gave her .5ml of mylanta the same time I gave her the prevacid.
I would appreciate your help!May 7, 2008 at 9:27 am #51175AnonymousInactiveHello!!!!!!
So is your daughter gassy or is she having problems pooping? My Dr did say that they can have Mylanta and to wait four hours after the prevacid. -
