Solids

My daughter is now 9 months and is still not taking any solids. We try everyday but she just bites the spoon. We are also in OT to help with feeding and that doesn’t seem to help too much. We tried every thing from apple,pear,banana,sweet potato and squash and she just bites the spoon and will take maybe one spoonful or when she’s really hungary, she’ll take 3 spoonful. I usualy try solids first and then goto bottles. Good thing she has a twin with very goo appetite so we don’t waste any food. He ends up eating all her left over food. Did anyone run into this? Is she just going to realize one day that the solids taste way better than bottles?

Does your daughter like teething biscuits or similar foods? If so, what I did to get my son interested in solids was to dip the teething biscuit into the food and let him suck it off. I also would use my finger instead of a spoon. Try putting some pureed food on her tray and letting her play in it.

I’ve heard of a lot of babies that arent interested in solids until 10 months or even older. As long as she is taking her bottles and getting practice with solids, I wouldnt stress about it just yet. All of her nutritional needs are being met with formula/breast milk for the first year. I’m sure with repeated exposure, she will begin to enjoy it.

Hailey won’t take anything either. She was fine at first, and then started to freak out when she saw a spoon come near her. Then I decided to dip teething buiscuits in the pureed food and that worked really well (although I don’t know how much actually got into her mouth). I also let her play with items off her tray of a variety of textures. Now she just sits there and stares at me poker faced. She won’t touch anything. Why???? Your guess is as good as mine!
