Thanks for the update. And good news about his weight gain and especially good news about the cold versus reflux related congestion. Hope he gets over his cold soon. (My three have all had colds almost continually for the last 3 weeks). It’s so frustrating.

I hope the Zantac helps him at night. (I hope she told you to give it to him at least 2 hours before or after the Prevacid).

I just wanted to mention the dose of Prevacid, according to MARCI-KIDS may be low.

How much does your son weigh?

Elijahs a little younger than your guy, and he weighs 21-22 lbs.

I have written a letter to his pedi GI that I will fax along with the
MARCI info and hope she reads it and understands. Elijah is only on
Prilosec suspension, 10 mg 2x day when according to MARCI, he should be
on approx 10 mgs of Prilosec 3 x day.

We are hoping to get Prevacid solutabs as our insurance needs prior
approvel for Zegerid and Mom has a hard time getting liquid meds into
him. (I on the other hand don’t have any problem, but I have raised 6
sons and don’t have first time mommy anxiety)

I also wanted to mention that my son with reflux/malacias doesn’t handle colds very well. If he has even the slightest sign of congestion, I give him a decongestant. (Any other kids you wouldn’t think of giving them meds for such a minor cold). My son’s reflux gets MUCH worse with just a little bit of a stuffy nose. The airflow isn’t as good and it causes a vacuum of sorts and makes his reflux worse.

Also wanted to add that if my son has even a slight 1 or 2 degree temp (still under 99 degrees), his reflux will sometimes be worse (and reflux makes him more congested). AND I’d suggest staying away from Ibuprophen because it makes my son’s reflux much much worse!
