No, we didn’t determine if the bar was the cause of Reidun’s irritability/nap difficulties. She is also cutting two upper teeth, so that could be it. With the timing though, I doubt the main cause was teething. If it was the bars, I’m not sure what about the bars could have caused the problem. There are a lot of variables: (1) This was the first time she had blueberries, so she could have been reacting to them. (2) Also, the fruit might not be cooked, which can worsen intolerances. (3) Many of the blueberries in the bar were whole, she broke off and swallowed some of them. Every food she has had up until now has been pureed. (4) The bars are sweet (like a fruit-roll-up), again, she is not use to that.
I jumped the gun in giving them to Reidun. I was too excited by the idea of a possible “teething biscuit” for her. I’ll try it again later.
I don’t think they were a waste. I can eat them, they taste great . Like I said earlier, they taste like a really good, thick, fruit-roll-up. If you like fruit-roll-ups, you should like these. They are messy for kids. Reidun was a sticky mess after eating it! Smart Mommy that I am, I had her in a white sweater when she was eating it, it is currently stained a purplish color . Oh well, she had fun chewing on it.
