Ashlynn’s sleeping has been horrible the last few months. She is back on Nexium twice a day and that has been about 3 weeks and I have not seen a change in her sleeping. Last night she was up from 11-3 and then back up at 6a. I go to the point where I was sleeping on the couch or if you could call it sleep. She trashes around like a chicken with its head cut off. (sorry about that). Ok is this reflux pain-ear pain or teeth. She does have tubes with no drainage and new teeth that have broke the skin.
August 14, 2008 at 1:43 pm #55348AnonymousInactiveWhich teeth? I know that for Ben, his eye teeth were (still are, actually) HORRIBLE. He was a mess for several weeks, and his sleep was really affected. They have been in now for a couple of weeks, but they are still working their way all the way in, and he still has rough days because of it (not napping right now, as I type!). So, even though they have already broken through, I still think they can cause some pain and irritation. Try some Motrin, and see if it helps her.

Do most reflux babies have problems with their teeth. Danika my 2 1/2 yo never had the much trouble sleeping when it came to teething.
August 14, 2008 at 4:04 pm #55354hellbenntKeymastercould it be milk? did she drink a milk formula? is she drinking cow’s milk?
I hope this post helps?
August 14, 2008 at 4:52 pm #55357AnonymousInactiveThanks for the post. Ashlynn does not show sign of allergy to mik(rash, wheezing, or itching at herself) We gor 15 month check in a month and GI dr next week so I am going ot ask both these questions. She did have milk at dinner time which is does at every dinner, I guess I could try something different at night. After 5 formulas she finaly was on Goodstart gentle ease, which she had no problems, she never has been a good sleeper.

I’m not sure about what else it might be…keep a list/log of what she eats and see if there’s any pattern?August 15, 2008 at 2:49 pm #55388AnonymousInactiveOk last night at dinner time I gave Ashlynn water with a splash of apple juice instead of milk and she slept all night long. Could this be it or just a flook. Our ENT Dr lives up the street from us so I guess I could ask him what he thought and plus ask the GI dr when we go Tuesday.
Thanks againThere girls and I are off to go pick some peaches at a local farm.stcwatt2008-08-15 14:52:27
August 15, 2008 at 7:19 pm #55397AnonymousInactiveThe only way to know is to try it again and see what happens. I would say keep her on the water for a few nights, and then try milk at dinner again. If she is sleeping all the time but is wakeful the night she has milk, then you know.
August 15, 2008 at 9:18 pm #55401AnonymousInactiveLet us know what happens with Ashlynn. I’ve also heard many people say that cutting out dairy stopped their children’s Ear infections and I know you’ve dealt with those a lot (including tubes). So maybe not “obvious” signs of an allergy, but sometimes people have been surprised. Let us know what you find out!! Good luck and I hope sleep improves. Deprivation can take it’s toll. p.s. have fun peach-picking, my boys loved it! Apples are next!jilly782008-08-15 21:19:46
August 15, 2008 at 9:50 pm #55403AnonymousInactiveChiming in a bit late, but I have a friend whose daughter has a milk allergy and her ONLY symptom was a runny nose! Her sleep was horrible too, but I think they just thought she was a poor sleeper. But when they had testing done she tested positive for a milk allergy. Now her runny nose is very minimal (she has horrible seasonal allergies like Cooper) and her sleep is much improved. Just to add onto what everyone else has said. Let us know how it goes.
August 17, 2008 at 11:38 am #55445AnonymousInactiveMy son has a milk allergy and his only signs are runny nose, cough, and night waking. I think some kids just have the night waking though. He also has night terrors. I finally just learned about that one. I could not for the longest time figure out why he would wake up screaming and nothing I did made him stop. If she does not respond to you at all that may just be what your dealing with.
August 20, 2008 at 11:47 am #55492AnonymousInactiveAfter our fu at the GI dr’s office we our trying soy milk. She also said to keep her on the Nexium twice a day and to check make in 2 months. Ashlynn has been sleeping better since I took her night milk away and since I stared her back to the Nexium twice a day. I was scared that she would not drink the soy milk ,but she chugged it right down last night and wanted more. Ok question how long do you girls think that I should keep her on the soy? Should I try reg milk at a different time? What are the disadvangtes of soy vs reg. milk. Ashlynn loves to eat! Should I cut all milk products out or just her drink. She seems to do ok with other milk products cheese, yoguar, etc.
