It sounds like Aubri (love her name BTW) is going to be in REALLY good hands!!! My boys were in a church-based center…I mean this from the bottom of my heart…despite all the work I missed b/c of Landen’s problems, when he was there, they took EXTREMELY good care of him and they LOVED him. When I lost my job they called to ask about him & called to talk to my older son on the phone! Those ladies rock rock rock your babies in those gliders when they cry. They really do handle them well!
The kicker for us, was Landen catching RSV. The hospital said he needed to be out of daycare for a month his lungs were so bad. I was already out of sick time (I had 2 kids in daycare calling me out for various things)My first son had reflux too and did wonderful in daycare. I never missed any time with him. Yeah, he was a fussbucket, but the workers saw him grow right out of the reflux. From one aspiring nurse to another…Good luck with nursing school!July 31, 2008 at 7:35 pm #54853AnonymousInactiveI wanted to name her an old name and came across Aubrey. We changed it to Aubri since my name is Andi!
I have another appointment with the ped in the morning. She’s been very good so far, and she has called to check up on her. Since she’s not showing any signs of improvement on the Axid, we’ll see what the ped wants to try next.I will let everyone know what the outcome is!Jilly: Have you checked into Pathways to help out with school? Let me know if you want any more info!August 1, 2008 at 10:13 am #54881AnonymousInactiveI just PM’d you.

If you would like to talk pm me and I will give you my number and email address. I dropped out of college when I found out Colt had reflux and milk and soy allergies. I know the peds in Fort Smith don’t have a clue on what dosage to use. I have a doctor who is willing to dose accourding to Dr. Phillips. I really hope she gets to feeling better soon. Just to give you some encouragement my son is now 3 and he is so much fun. We really had a rough time but I am so happy where we are now.

It is hard when all you want is for your LO to be happy and well rested but you can’t rest because you are terrified they will stop breathing.
The doctors we had at the time, pretty much laughed at us and said we were imagining it. WE GOT NEW DOCTORS! My DH is a sleep therapist and with my nursing background, we knew Carson was in trouble. DO NOT allow anyone to convince you to take this lightly! We found out through a swallow study that Carson was aspirating thin liquids pretty often. Not only from his bottle, but from the liquid he was refluxing.YUCK! We had to thicken his formula even more to stop it. He is currently on Enfamil AR Lipil, that thickens on its own when it hits the gastric acid and gets 1.5 T of rice cereal added per ounce! It is like feeding him wallpaper paste, but it works. And I can’t say enough about Dr Browns bottles! We havent had anymore apnea or cyanotic episodes since. I would definately use the Angel Care Monitor. Carson slept on my chest for months number 2,3, and 4, every night. It was horrible but I knew when my son wasn’t breathing. Our new DR said since he was past the 4 month mark it was a small bit safer, in reference to SIDS, for him to sleep on his tummy. A lot of these reflux babies are tummy sleepers. When you take into account the number of times Aubrey stops breathing, compare it to about 1 in every 2500 babies with SIDS, you just have to trust your gut instincts on this one! Nobody knows your LO like you do. With that said, I am in no way suggesting you put her on her tummy without a visit to the GI. I just mean you have to do what you feel is best.I wish you the best of luck, and if I can help in any way just let me know! One last thing- Go to bed every night knowing you did your best and you are the only voice she has. You may have to go many miles for that voice to be heard, but thats what we Mommys do and her smile is thanks enough!August 5, 2008 at 8:29 pm #55063AnonymousInactiveWe, too, are on the rice cereal because she’s aspirating the spit up. She never gets much out, if any, just tries to get it back down and aspirates. It’s scary! I started using the Dr. Brown’s bottles Friday, and they seem to be helping tremendously with her gas!
I’m just hoping this Prevacid kicks in soon and helps! It’s so hard to see ANY baby hurting, but it’s so much worse when it’s your own!

how do you know she is aspirating? has she had a swallow study done that shows you?if so after the test/study I would think they’d tell you about how much to thicken, etc, and also about other thickening agents aside from cereal, like Simply Thick or Thick it…just curiousreading through the tone sounds harsh as I throw questions out to youas you’ll come to learn, I’m pretty inquisitive -
