My 11 week old is still sleeping in our room. She sleeps in the pack and play newborn sleeper since it is reclined. It is becoming too tight for her and she is almost at the maximum weight for it. We are not comfortable putting her upstairs in her crib yet but don’t have many other options then putting her in the bed with us which we don’t want to do. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? Thank you so much.

put the crib in your room?September 25, 2012 at 6:28 pm #70989AnonymousInactiveIt might be a short term solution, but we LOVE the Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper. My DS is just now outgrowing it at a little over 5 months old. He’s just starting to try to roll over in it to the point that we are going to have to transition. I would say even if your DD got two months out of it, it would be worth the money in my mind.

When we tried to raise it she would turn to the side and get too close we were afraid she would not be able to breathe. So we are looking for alternatives to that. You all just put your baby on their back and they are fine? Even if its 2 hours after she eats she still ends up spitting up and choking.

The rock ‘n play is not horizontal at all, it’s very angled. My baby hasn’t slept flat on his back really. I can’t get him to sleep in the crib yet, which I definitely need to work on. Can’t seem to get a link to work but, but if you look at these the 4th one shows the angle of the seat. http://m.target.com/p/fisher-price-newborn-rock-n-play-playard-sleeper-butterflies/-/A-13270123

October 2, 2012 at 8:15 pm #71020hellbenntKeymasterfor a nap (can’t tell you to do this! it’s what I did sometimes):
I put baby on tummy and put a beanie baby on his back- I could see the beanie baby going up & down so I knew he was breathing- plus the weight of it felt like my hand- I’d start w/ my hand there, too, & slowly remove it…October 27, 2012 at 11:35 am #71109AnonymousInactivewe use the rock and play too. It is great. My son is 4 months and just starting to get a little long for it. it has a good angle!
October 28, 2012 at 12:59 am #71119AnonymousInactivei slept my daughter on her stomach. I have 9 children. When I had my first 5 children, the recommendation was to put them to sleep on their stomachs so that they would not spit up and choke on it. During the almost 4 year gap before #6, was when they came up with the back-to-sleep program.
When I took sylvia in to the ped gi i told him that I slept her on her stomach—and he told me that that was the best way to sleep her—but that he was not supposed to tell me that.
I found a site on the internet from the college of Pediatrics that actually said reflux babies did better sleeping on their stomach.
Even though I had slept 5 children on their stomachs, when they changed the recommendation, it made me nervous to put my daughter on her stomach.
Years ago, someone posted the link to the college of pediatric site–but I would not know how to find it.
you might do like Laura suggested, and put her on her tummy for naps and see how that goes.
