Aidan’s reflux is not so bad right now, he went through a bad spell a few weeks ago, but it’s alright now, he can sit unassisted for a LONG time, sat contentedly playing for an hour yesterday, has started crawling, well inch worming as I call it, scrunching his legs up and pushing but hasn’t yet gotten the clue that his arms/upper body has to be off the ground too! He gets around suprisingly fast that way..he hates the excersaucer now (much to my dismay) as he has figured out he can move!!!!now if I could just get him to quit waking up at 2 in the morning and refusing to go back in his crib we’d be in buisness!!!
June 28, 2006 at 3:42 pm #10723AnonymousInactiveGreat news – way to go Aidan!
June 28, 2006 at 3:52 pm #10724AnonymousInactiveHi Jill,
Wow!! He’ll be all over the house before you know it!!
I’m happy to hear his reflux is better, too. Myles had a few months of back and forth with his reflux starting at about 6 months. He was good for two weeks, bad for a week, good for two weeks, bad for a week, etc. until about 8 months. Since then he’s only had two or three bad days, so hopefully it’s almost over! I hope Aidan’s reflux is behind him for good soon.

June 29, 2006 at 9:07 pm #10821AnonymousInactiveThat’s wonderful news, Jill! Tess is a few weeks behind Aidan (my nephew’s name BTW) and she’s sitting up pretty well, too, although it tends to make her spit up. She hates tummy time too much to have figured out how to move around yet however she’s still not crazy about the exersaucer either. LOL! I hope this is the start of great things for you guys!

July 6, 2006 at 1:29 pm #11092AnonymousInactiveoh yeah, he wants to move so badly, is doing that up on all fours rocking thing, but usually ends up falling forward and doing a face plant on the rug, never hurts him, but really ticks him off, he can almost get himself to a sitting position from being on his back, well side. He also REALLY REALLY wants the food we’re eating, as in he gets MAD when we eat in front of him even if he’s eating his baby food at the same time, it’s frustrating for him but a bit funny to us!! He’ll lunge almost jumping out of the high chair or out of the arms of whoever is holding him to try to get to the food!!! It’s very annoying that the range of stage 2 baby foods is not only not that wide but all of the mixed veggies contain carrots which he didn’t do to well on, not to mention most of the fruit mix things have sugar in them. Could go the organic route but there is even LESS of a choice then!!! Not sure about making my own mixed stage two type things, and I don’t want to do meat yet…it’s frustrating but he does do ok with pears now. He can now eat a full stage 2 container, but still hasn’t gotten that he can’t then eat his 5 oz bottle 30 mins later, I’ll give it to him, and he’ll spit up little amounts for like an hour afterwards (not a lot even combined however)..maybe it just takes a while for them to realize how much they can eat? Anyway ty guys for the support and yeah I hope he stays on this track!!!!
July 6, 2006 at 2:11 pm #11098AnonymousInactiveHi Jill,
Myles does the “face plant” all the time and boy does he get MAD. I’m just happy that he is finally getting up onto his hands and knees, but I hate to see him do a nose dive into the carpet like that.
Sounds like Aidan is doing well. He’s way ahead of Myles in his gross motor skills, but Myles is working on it.
I think it’s terrific that he’s interested in what you’re eating already. Do you give him any finger foods yet? I know he’s pretty little, but maybe puffy dissolve foods? Myles loves Puffed Wheat. He just lights up and bounces up and down with excitement when he sees me coming with the bag.
I’m glad Aidan is doing so well.

July 6, 2006 at 3:45 pm #11110AnonymousInactiveThat is funny Sebastian does the same face plant thing. He has been doing it for weeks and still can not get the hang of the whole crawling thing. I am excited for him to start to crawl, but I am not really looking forward to how much harder he is going to be when he can get around on his own.
July 6, 2006 at 7:43 pm #11124AnonymousInactiveWell, he’s a pretty quiet baby, a bit behind in the babbling department, well much quieter than my oldest, and not making as many sounds…but my older son refused to crawl and didn’t until he was about Myles’s age, Actually I don’t think he really began crawling well until he was about 11 months old, so he’s probably not behind at all!!! I was thinking about trying those little gerber puff things? the ones that disolve instantly..I gave him a zwieback (sp?) toast the other day in his baby safe teether and he gummed it down to nothing! I would love to give him finger food, and I know he can chew, he does with the baby food, it’s just that I’m still not sure exactly WHAT he can eat…I mean what he can tolerate eating..it’s so frustrating trying to find things that don’t mess with their reflux!!!
LOL I didn’t want to admit it but sometimes the nose dive thing can be amusing, the first time he did it he ended up on his belly looking up at me like “what the??”
July 6, 2006 at 9:12 pm #11125AnonymousInactiveThe gerber Puff things are great. Myles loves them. My girls just stopped eating them recently. They both loved them for the longest time.
It is hard to figure out what to give them that won’t aggravate their reflux. It was so easy with my girls. Liza ate just about anything and had no reflux or digestive issues. Ellie was never a puker and she outgrew her silent reflux by 8 – 9 months, but she hated everything so there was no issue about what to give her. She wouldn’t eat ANY table food until she was 18 months old!!
With Myles, the issue now is gagging. He just gags and looks at me like “How could you?” when I give him anything besides puffs or dissolve foods. His reflux is better but he pukes if he tastes anything he doesn’t like or anything that doesn’t dissolve quickly. So, I don’t know what in the world to feed him besides purees right now.
July 6, 2006 at 9:48 pm #11126AnonymousInactiveawwww poor little guy (poor you to!!) have you tried thickening his purees with a tiny bit of cereal and increasing it until he is eventually used to eating chunkier stuff??? I’m sort of doing this with Aidan, b/c he wants the food so much, but I can’t find anything besides stage 2 in single foods..I just mix about a half tablespoon of cereal in with whatever he eats once a day to try to get him used to chewing shunky stuff so he can actually HAVE table food sooner. Speaking of, he’s awake…stupid carrots, they were a bad call 2 months ago, tried them again for dinner!!! not a good idea!
July 7, 2006 at 9:45 am #11140AnonymousInactiveThat’s a good idea about mixing the cereal into the baby food. I may it try it later but right now I am trying to reduce the cereal in his diet because the doc says he needs more fluids and less bulk to help with his sluggish bowels.
I read a book once which suggested putting pieces of cooked potato, pasta, or rice into the purees to get babies used to texture and chewing, but I don’t think he’s ready for that yet.
That’s too bad about the carrots causing him problems. Can he eat the other yellow veggies?
July 7, 2006 at 12:45 pm #11145AnonymousInactiveI think he’s ok with squash, gives him a bit of a rash on his face but I think that’s b/c it gets ON his face, he does awesome with the green veggies (which I should be thankful for!!!!!). I agree that putting pasta and things like that might not be too good for Myles yet, Like I said, my oldest was still on stage ones until 9 months!!!!!
