Have to be quick but my understanding is its reflux when there is not lots of spitting up (all baby’s spit a bit…but some reflux babies spit a lot). I see Alana as having the silent type, she never spits, but unmedicated I would kind of hear her regurgitate and swallow and she would scream and grimace at the same time as this happened. There is probably a more technical explanation….
Like Therese said, it’s not outward spitting. It’s reflux that either doesn’t make it all the way up into the mouth, or reflux that goes into the mouth, but is then swallowed back down. Silent reflux can sometimes cause more acid damage because it’s going up and then back down each time- twice the chance to burn.
