Should we see a GI?

Our pediatrician has been more than helpful in treating Ben’s reflux. He has prescribed anything I have asked him about, and I’ve been very happy with his treatment. I do wonder, however, if there isn’t something we have missed. I’ve seen several posts on here from moms who have been totally frustrated by a visit to a GI who did absolutely nothing, and then there are others who swear by them. What do you all think? I guess I just wonder because I am a little worried that we might be dealing with more than reflux.. maybe a food allergy/intolerance or something else. Would a GI help to sort that out?

is your baby still in pain??

if so have you considered the elimination diet?

personally, our GI visit was a waste of time. i didnt learn anything i didnt already know. i did a ton of research and basically TOLD our ped my son was MSPI and TOLD her we needed neocate. when we tried it he improved 100%.

she sent us to a GI anyway, because she had never had a reflux baby that didnt respond to zantac, or a baby with MSPI for that matter.

when we went to see the GI she was like “ok…..so why are you here?”

I am currently on the elimination diet, and haven’t noticed too much difference in his behaviour, maybe a little less spitting up and his cradle cap has gone away.

As far as pain goes. I do still think he is – sometimes. He doesn’t cry nearly as much, but he certainly hates the whole process of refluxing. In the evening, he really cries when it happens. Other times, he looks right at me, smiles and pukes all over the place, but doesn’t seem to mind one bit. So, who knows…
