scope on monday

hi gals, i tried to avoid a scope again—but i havae been having more and more problems swallowing food, so i finally broke down and saw our surgeon yesterday. i am scheduled for a scope on monday morning to dilate my esophagus again. i had a ring last time that he clipped in about 4 places. he assumes this is what i have again. he says the ring does not expand like the esophagus does and that is why i have food getting stuck when i try to swallow it. he says they use a balloon now to fracture the ring. wish me luck!

wow. do they know what causes the ring?

there was another ring. he told my husband he thought it was a hereditary thing. i think it is just caused by my reflux—but i have a real problem with taking PPI’s for the rest of my life. the local surgeon isn’t fond of fundo’s, but the kids ped gi told me i should go “on a road trip” to have a fundo, anyway.

i did get the surgeon to take biopsies in the duodenum this time, but he only took 3.

i was in and out of the hospital in 2 hours. i napped in the afternoon and shopped this evening.

wow, sorry you had to go through that and that they found another ring!! have they ever found high #’s of Eos cells when doing biopsies?
