Hello. It has been a while since my last post, and things with Izzie have gone from bad to worse. She just turned 7 months old on saturday. First, the good news. She was taken off the apnea monitor!! But she has lost over 1 pound since November, and before she was gaining 1 pound every 2 weeks or so. She has been throwing up so much(sometimes up to 20 times a day) that she is constipated, we’ve been struggling with that since Halloween. Her Dr. finally referred us to a specialist, who immediately changed her meds, which I’ve been suggesting for months, and the zantac has taken away a lot of her pain. She doesn’t cry nearly as much as before, she actually smiles a lot now! At her last visit, she still had not gained any weight and her test for blood in her stool came back positive for the first time! He scheduled her for his 1st available EGD, which of course had to come after the holidays, 3 weeks after her appointment!!! Christmas, and the 5 days before, were TOUGH, she was throwing up everything she ate/drank (she is still breastfed.) But since the Thursday after Christmas she has barely thrown up, 1-2 times a day and two days not at all. Now I’m thinking I shouldn’t put her through the EGD, what if she’s getting better? Everyone I’ve talked to that has had a kid with GERD says it just stops one day out of nowhere. Is it wishful thinking? Is the EGD as bad as I think it is? Any advice or similar experiences would be so helpful. I don’t know what to do.
