Refluxing during an upper gi????

Quinn’s first Upper GI showed very mild reflux… though she did reflux 2x’s after just 2 ounces, the first ph probe even indicated mild reflux, but as time went on, we knew it was NOT mild reflux at all. And her second probe study which was done when she was 13 months showed so severe of reflux that the doctor didn’t believe it and admitted her for another one… which came out with the same results. She also had another swallow study when she was 9 months which showed lots of reflux too. I don’t know if this is true or not, but it might just be the time they get them. Because it was hard for me to believe that they had her at mild reflux when she was younger. Sometimes, they don’t reflux much where as a few hours later, it’s just constant… so who knows… I always wondered how they KNEW if they only did a 10 minute test… which is why I am a fan of the ph probe.

Anyways, I hope you get your results soon.

I would think a day or two and you should have your results back. Ours were the next day. I wouldn’t be too shocked but almost glad that they found it on an upper gi. Sometimes they have to to a ph probe for 24 hours to really know. I hope your little angel gets results soon and prescribed meds to help her!

We got our results the same day, however both my husband and I are employees at the hospital where the study was done and we both watched and knew what we were looking for. When my ped called to talk about the results with me, she was amazed that it actually showed moderate/severe reflux b/c she said most times it doesn’t even show up, so to me that ment it was pretty bad. Cooper only took 3 1/2 of contrast and started refluxing after 1 1/2 oz, however he never actually had anything come up which was odd to me, but you know they never act the same when tests are being done. That is just the nature of things.
