Hi All,
My son is 6 months and it seemed as if his reflux was at least starting to settle down, a bit. When he was younger, it was spit up all the time, acid coming back up, poor feeding, etc… I would say in the last two weeks these symptoms have re-appeared again in full force. His Prevacid dosage is the same along with his mylanta 5 times a day. I have noticed that he is way more fussier (could that be due to teething?) along with excessive burping hours after feeding (even after being held upright and burping during his bottle). Have you experienced this with your children? Any advice or direction I should take?Thank you allDeeJanuary 3, 2009 at 8:34 pm #60045hellbenntKeymasterhe might need his prevacid increased for his weight
will let you know proper dosing for his weightalso if you have any zantac (or pepcid or tagament or axid) you can give that, too, just give 4 hrs seperate from the PPIthe mylanta should also be seperated fom the prevacid…mylanta can be given w/ zantac (or pepcid or tagament or axid)teething also exacerbates refluxJanuary 3, 2009 at 9:02 pm #60046AnonymousInactiveLaura pretty much said what I was going to. I would also maybe try some tylenol or ibuprofen (we always used the dye free) before naps/bedtime to see if that helps, if it does then it is probably teething. Another thing we all forget about with teething is that you can rub just a bit of benadryl on the gums and it will help as well.

I am somewhat down today…Seamus is always hard to settle which I think may be a small part of just his personality. He never wants to settle for sleep because he thinks he may miss something. But I mentioned to my mom that I determined to find an answer for things and my mom had to say that as a parent you usually never find the answer, and that Seamus has more than one thing going on with him. Not what I wanted to hear.

January 4, 2009 at 6:46 pm #60056AnonymousInactiveI never knew about the benedryl. Do you use the childrens benedryl liquid? And will it make the baby sleepy? My son is just 3 months old and having symptoms of teething, he is awake more at night, fussy, chewing his hands all the time and super drooly, no fever or runny BM.
Conner is sleepy enough as it is because of his Zantac and Prevacid, so I am a bit worried of making him overly tired with all these meds.January 4, 2009 at 7:49 pm #60061hellbenntKeymasterbenedryl on the gums- I just use my finger- children’s benedryl-
the excess saliva/drool contains histimines and benedryl is an antihistimine…just use at night if you’re worried about sleepy- but it’s just a drop….January 4, 2009 at 7:53 pm #60063hellbenntKeymasterrent3798 wrote: Forgot to mention that I love your user-name. not sure if you meant my username? thanks, if that’s what you meant- I am hellbennt and determined, that’s for sure!ok not what you want to hear, but I’m not sure that your baby is ‘just hard to settle’- I thought this and then saw the WONDERs of proper medication and…well…you found a great place! continue to fight for your baby! read and research here and be the best advocate for him, just like you’re doing!!January 11, 2009 at 9:43 pm #60242AnonymousInactiverent3798 wrote: Hi All,

We were seeing some slow, but steady improvements, but this past week…phew…it just got TERRIBLE! My son will be 6 months in one week and this feels like the worst week yet in terms of the amount of vomit.January 11, 2009 at 11:14 pm #60245AnonymousInactivewhen you say that his symptoms have returned ‘full force’ do you mean that the reflux and spitting have both returned? Teething is definitely an issue with finn….i can usually tell if the reflux is getting in the way..but sometimes I’m just baffled. I read somewhere on here that reflux increases with teething.
