Reflux better after pooping?

Hi,

My baby has silent reflux and is on Zantac but still regurgitating a lot into her throat (with moderate discomfort still). She only poops once every 5-7 days but the poops are not hard (often green though) and they’re huge! It seems that after she has a big poop her reflux gets better and conversely the longer she’s gone without pooping the worse it gets. Has anyone else had this experience?

If the fact that she only poops infrequently is contributing to her reflux does anyone know how to get her to empty her bowels more often? Is that what motilium and other motility agents are for?

Any help would be awesome!

and feeling better after, etc. MIGHT be reflux that is exacerbated/caused by MSPI (milk soy protein intolerance)??

Breastfed, expressed breast milk in bottle. She’s 12 weeks old, born at 32 weeks.

I’ve cut out dairy before and perhaps noticed a little difference but hard to tell because of all the med changes. Do you know if it’s ok to eat soy oil or lecithin etc if I’m on a no soy protein diet?

& lecithin is ok…

as for dairy: have you cut out all dairy, including ‘hidden’ dairy?

I think I’m cutting out hidden dairy but I will take a look at some of the other posts on here to make sure.

also my gi doctor said that if they are constipated/ having trouble pooping… reflux can be a lot worse. which makes perfect sense to me….

constipation can definitely cause or worsen reflux.

SOME green poops are FINE– just not all.the.time.
