Well, I just took my almost 17 month old to the doctor today for a check-up (actually his 18 month check-up even though he’s not 18 months yet – long story) and his weight came in at 9% on the growth chart – aaack! I’ve noticed over the past couple of weeks that his reflux seems to have worsened again and he’s cut way down on the amount of food he’s eating despite having upped his Zantac dosage to 2.0 mL 3x/day. So, I’m wondering if this is a normal age to spike a recurrence again? He’d been doing so well, but hasn’t really gained any significant weight (less than a pound) since his 1 year well-baby in February. The pediatrician has referred us to a GI doc and I’m going to inquire about switching to Prevacid or Prilosec to see if that would help. Any other suggestions or thoughts? He’s also allergic to milk, chicken and turkey, but he doesn’t get any of these items, so I don’t think his allergies are playing into the situation at present and he got a clean bill of health otherwise at the doctor, so nothing brewing that we can see yet, anyway…
