I’m on the elimination diet, and out of desperation for some protein other than turkey, tried pork on Saturday and again on Monday. Ben’s reflux stayed pretty much the same, but he woke up Monday morning with a “rash” on his face. I put that in quotations because I couldn’t really tell if it was a rash or just some irritation from saliva and drool and laying in it in his bed. He also started having huge poopy diapers in the morning. This isn’t all that new either, but then on Tuesday, I noticed that his belly botton was all red – really red. It wasn’t red around it, but inside it. I looked for a scratch and found nothing.
So my question is, is this a reaction to the pork? It makes sense to me, in that if he is irritated on the inside, it would show up on the belly like that, but am I nuts? I took him to the pediatrician, and the PA thought I was an idiot, I’m sure. She just gave me some antiobotic cream. Funny thing is though, the diarrhea stopped yesterday and the rash and belly are normal today. hmmmm… Have any of you heard about a belly button reaction like this?
