Really bad week

This has been a really bad week. The faucet on the kitchen sink broke. We got that fixed but now there is a leak somewhere under the sink. Naturally, it won’t do it when you look for it, you just find puddles under the sink.

On top of all of that and the usual mom stuff, Danni is still not sleeping. It is almost as if she is afraid to go to sleep. She realizes that when she lays down to sleep her reflux “kicks in” and she hurts from it. She starts off propped up on top of me but then she wiggles off and sleeps next to me. But that only lasts a few minutes before the reflux starts. Then it’s crying for about an hour until she falls asleep and then it starts all over again.

I am sooooo tired.

I’m sorry you’re having a bad week. I know how hard it can be to deal with a non-sleeping refluxer. I hope that she can get on some meds that give her some relief. HUGS.

Iam sorry to hear about your bad week.

Does your baby sleep elevated a bit? My dd slept better when she was elevated. we used the tucker sling, but you can elevate using pillows under the matress and a buppy pillow under her bottom to keep her from sliding down. Hugs your way and prayers for a better week.

She is 11 months so there is really nothing other than pillows to prop her with which we do but she doesn’t stay on them. She is a VERY rough sleeper. I have been sleeping sitting up with her on me. Not very comfortable. I am sooo sore. Hopefully the prevacid will kick in soon!

Hi Cherie,
I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rough week. I hope you can find a solution to help your little girl sleep better. We use a danny sling on an elevated mattress for my son and it has done wonders for his sleep (well, that along with reflux meds of course). I hope her Prevacid kicks in soon and she starts sleeping better.

I am so sorry your week has been rough. Landen was certainly the non-sleeping refluxer so I can sympathize totally. Until last week, he was up numerous times a night and waking my toddler as well (I work full time too!) and there were no such things as naps that lasted longer than 5 minutes. Things will get better and I never ever thought I could ever say that!! You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers!

I hope the prevacid does wonders for her. It def did Landen a lot of good. He had a clear endoscopy (no erosions) recently and he was treated from the prevacid solutabs at that time. He is sleeping and eating better on nexium, but for Landen I think the solutabs bothered his stomach.

Not sure if this will help, but Justice slept propped on my arm and a pillow. Actually he still does for naps. Again, I don’t know if that will help. You know we need to invent something for moms to be able to sleep with their reflux babies comfortably because I have to tell you, mine slept so much better with me. Like you though it was uncomfortable for them to sleep on me and me try to be elevated.

Danni has been sleeping on my arm the past few nights. If she gets off of it, she starts having trouble with the reflux and wiggles to get back on my arm. It is actually kind of funny the way she squirms to get next to me. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Do you have a pillow under her? We used one of our bed pillows and I put that under my arm and then Justice’s head is on my arm, but his body can be on the pillow or even on my body. I had to expermient a little. I really hope things are better soon. That lack of sleep really is killer. It is so hard to get anything done when your so darn tired.

Yep, my arm is on a pillow and she is on my arm. Last night was a very bad night. She wants to lay on the bed but then starts having trouble so, she screams because it hurts and then I have to calm her down and prop her back up on the pillow and me. And this “routine” plays out over and over all night long. I got no sleep whatsoever. Right now, she is napping propped up on the sofa. It is actually the only place that she really sleeps good. I am begining to consider sleeping there from now on.

By the way, I absolutely LOVE your boys names. Luke and Justice were the boys names I had picked with my first. But she was a Mollie instead!

I’m just now getting to your post but I hope she starts sleeping better soon, giving your arm a break!! Lack of sleep is a common theme in our house right now. Kate’s naps are pretty sad but I’m hoping with time they’ll get better. Things always do! I’m currently going against ALL the books and either nursing her or rocking her to sleep, terrible mother I know but I’m SO TIRED!!! I’ll be thinking of you guys!

Claire, you are so not a bad mommy. As a matter of fact I think you are a great mom. You threw out everything everyone was telling you and you did what was best for Kate. Noone knows your situation like you do. Besides it is really hard to be a good mom when you are so tired. You do what you need to do to get her and yourself some sleep.

At 5 months Justice started having tremours due to the lack of sleep he was getting. He slept 5 hrs in a 24 hr period. Anyway, I started being a human pacifer all night long and let Justice nurse on me all night long. I had so many people tell me he would never stop and he would be in bed with me forever. Ha! At 9 or 10 months not sure, I did some gentle sleep training and now Justice is 16 months old and has been sleeping in his crib the majority of the night for a very long time. So, again I say Ha to those people.

Well, Danni will be one on the 11th and she is still in the bed with us and she probably will be for a while. She is a very needy baby. But that’s ok. We will do whatever she needs us to for her to be happy. It’s hard enough growing up but when you add in the health problems it seems horrible sometimes. She will be spoiled rotten but that’s ok too.
